Tau Hammerhead and other WH40K models

I’ve finally completed the Tau Hammerhead tank I’ve been working on over the last week.
It’s painted in a fairly standard Tau scheme, overall sand with brown camo and black details.
Still, I’m very pleased with how it’s turned out. The Hammerhead is probably my favourite WH40K vehicle
along with the Eldar Falcon.

The model is painted entirely with Humbrol and Revell enamels. The lights and cockpit “windscreen” are painted
with Humbrol #11 (chrome silver) and overpainted with transparent enamels.)

Also, here are the Space Marines vehicles I was working on earlier, now finished - Blood Angels Landspeeder:
The surface definition on this model isn’t particularly good as it was a second-hand model, painted very badly,
and I had to paint it with brake fluid and scrub off as much of the old paint as I could. I then painted it with
Revell enamel which refused to set properly, and also had to be cleaned off with white spirit. I finally painted it
with Games Workshop Blood Red which of course went on perfectly. The decals are also slightly silvered, GW decals seem
to be prone to this - I’ll need to get some more Microsol.

and Ultramarines bike. The shade of blue is a bit too dark, I painted this before I bought a pot of Ultramarines
Blue from my local Games Workshop store, so I had to use the nearest match I had - Revell #56; however I still think
it looks quite good.

I also finished the Eldar Jetbike (added a decal, flag, and varnished the model) and painted a Guardian
figure (not a pilot, unfortunately I don’t have one…) to go with it (in the colours of Saim-Hann craftworld)

  • and painted some more Eldar troops (Biel-Tan craftworld colours). I’m quite pleased with these, they’re my best figures so far. The gemstones, sword, etc. are painted using the same technique used for the lights on the Hammerhead.

looks cool ! keep em coming

The hammerhead and devilfish are my two favorite vehicles from the Tau. Some day I want to get a devifish.

Great job on your hammerhead.

im looking at the ultramarine on the bike again, and his posture is like mine - hunching!.
cue my mom coming in and yelling “SIT UP STRAIGHT REGINALD !”

sorry thats very offtopic

Unfortunately that hunched posture is built into the
Space Marines biker model. To customise it (to have the rider sitting
up and firing a hand weapon, for example) you’d probably have to do a conversion
using parts from standard Space Marine models.

Excellent job. I gotta get around to painting my Eldar Falcon tank. It’s been sitting primed and ready for a year now [:)]

Nice work on the Hammerhead. I stared at it for a while thinking whats wrong then I realised that there wasnt anything wrong with it but I used missile pods instead of the burst cannon… dopey me.I think the Tau and Eldar vehicles have to be the best looking in the game, very nicely designed .

Gotta love those Hammerheads!!

Well done aon all of the models btw!!

cheers

Mike

my friend was playing a dark eldar army and was dissapointed with the vehicles they used, so i “darked” up an eldar falcon added a lot of spikes that were left over from the D.E. soldier sprues and thus the D.E. Blade Falcon was born if i can get a friend of mine to take a few shots of it with his digital i’ll try to post them

Nice stuff, thanks for sharings.

That Falcon in your sig is really impressive, upnorth.
It’s certainly a change from the usual Eldar colour schemes!

Thanks for the comment on my Falcon Drawde.

I don’t play the Warhammer game, so I just did my own thing with the model, you can see a couple of other pictures of it in the sci fi section of the photo gallery on Ron George’s web site.

I finished it in a combination of Citadel and Modelmaster Acrylics and tinted the windows with Tamiya’s clear smoke.

I added quite a few things to it and carved some extra vents to give it some extra intrest as I felt it was rather spartan straight from the box.
