Does anyone know what tank was used or based on in the episode titled, “Custer’s Last Stand” ?
It was an M5 Stuart Light Tank of some sort, IIRC. I’m not sure the M5 or M5A1.
Thank you. I couln’t remember if it was one of those or an M41 Patton. Now I need to buy the DVD for still shots. Anyone selling their DVD of this episode?
AHHHH
I was planning on posting something like this! I think the episode is called ‘Phantoms of the 7th’
That was a great one. The soldiers names appeared on the battlefield monument, and the Guard commander looking for them said something to the effect of “too bad they couldn’t bring up the tank”.
That’s the episode!
See my reply at Armorama.
cool.
The 7th Is Made up of Phantoms
this is the title season 5 episode 130 there is one picture on the net, it shows just the turret
where? I was just google-ing all over and nothing but the three dudes, which I also needed.
I just found it using, season 5 episode 130
thanks for the tip
I’m pretty sure they didnt bring the tank, as they probably didn’t have any live MG or tank ammo along-they were just out for some exercises. I’m suprised they had ammo for their carbines (all three were complete nut jobs btw)
Sure they were, but it was the 'zone. That show may have been what gave me my quirky sense of humor., or it could have been Dad, or it could have been Zapcomix.
No they didn’t. It got stuck or something and they decided to pile out and head up the ridge without it. I always wondered if it rusted away to nothing, or if somebody dragged it away and raised chickens in it. Now, Crazy Horse with a captured M1, that would be a figure.
John Milius kind of ripped this off for the end of Red Dawn. And there was an old SNL skit with a quiz show where the hosts posits:" what would have happened if Napoleon had a B-52 at the battle of Waterloo?". Well, it depends; a C or a G?
There’s no indication in the script there was a problem with the tank. (Just saw it again New Year’s Day so Im not reliying on 45 year old deposits in the memory bank, just 3 week old ones. [:)])
I don’t remember this at the end of Red Dawn. What am I missing?
Well, ripped off is an unfortunate term and I apologize for that, but when they see the monument at the end of the movie with the heroes names, it had for me an emotional turn that reminded me of the tv show.
I don’t know what happened to the tank- I haven’t seen the show in 40+ years, and my memory isn’t so great but it was always a favorite.

If you have Netflix, you can see it instantly on your computer. It’s in Twilight Zone: Volume 19.
Thanks for all that insightful information. I’m going to buy the TZ volume 19 DVD.
. . .

I own the DVD, Red Dawn. I like that movie. Very parallel to Afghanistan right now but opposite rolls.
I have a feeling that I’m about to get jumped here for that statement.

Probably more like Russia’s misadventure in Afghanistanin the 80’s than today.
