I’d like to build at least one entry that reflects the theme at AMPS '04, Armor Recovery, and I was wondering if I wouldn’t be too far afield by using the tow bar on the front of that kit (Tamiya’s Jeep), in a small recovery setting. Perhaps pulling another Jeep out of a ditch, or something like that. Any thoughts, ideas will be welcome. I’m looking forward to reading any replies. Regards, Dave
Tow bars are used for towing. Tow cables, ropes or chains are used to pull something out of a ditch. Once the vehicle is free (and inoperable), the tow bar would be used to tow it away. The rigidity of the tow bar prevents the towed vehicle from rolling into the towing vehicle when the towing vehicle stops. That same rigidity also prevents the tow bar from being an effective recovery item. A cable or chain can allow some slack and give the pulling vehicle a little bit of a running start before pulling.
How about towing a disabled Jeep with another Jeep? Show the broke Jeep with some bullet holes in the radiator and grill area and hooked to the recovering Jeep.
I appreciate the information. I’ll see what I can do. Best regards, Dave
