hello all well i need some help and i know where to go for that. well first off i got my verlinden’s armored trailor done hope you like the pic’s . but that is not what i need help with. i was going to have the trailor behind my sherman with the T-34 caliope. but as i was looking at my books i found a great pic of an M2A1 at the battle of the bulge. what a great pic of a half-track. so do i half to build it all from scratch or is there a up date kit for it? thanks for the help in adv.
sorry was wanting to look what my tracks would look like in a pic. also yes i know the trailor is not painted. but with a 3 year old in one ear and a preg wife in the other i’m lucky to get anything done ha ha .[8]
What book was you looking in?[:D]
squadron/signal half tracks in action. page 3
That is a nice trailer.
Unfortunately the M2A1 half-track didn’t see service until after WW II. You would have to backdate Tamiya’s kit which would include removing the ladders from the sides, the rear racks and the “wing” on the back of the ring mount… these mods are covered in the insructions in the painting guide (a little late IMHO). The other choice would be to make new side and rear panels.
sorry i think you need to do some more ref. and look at the pic.s in the book. how can not see service . when it was built before the M3? and i’m looking at combat photos of it in WWII? i guess squ/sig timelife chris ellis all wroung. owell i think i’ll build it anyway.[8][banghead][censored]
Vonryan,
I think that Derek (claymore) was refering to the M3A2 halftrack, not the M2A1. The M3A2 didnt see service until after WWII. To backdate the M3A2 to an M3A1 you can switch the sides from the Tamiya M21 Mortar Halftrack if you can find it. The M21 had the mineracks on it but none are included in the Tamiya kit. So if you switch the armored plates on the two halftracks you could make 2 accurate halftracks.
Try this website for a more in depth history of the Halftrack.

What he said, got confused for a minute, sorry.
Tamiya has re-released the M16 half track (or so I have heard) and I saw an M21 on the shelf at the LHS last week.
If you want to convert the Tamiya M3A2 to the M2A2 there is a conversion kit by AEF Designs WA-13 - US M-2A-2 Half track conversion http://www.aefdesigns.com/wwii_Images/WWII_Armor.htm and an Israeli conversion KI-91 - IDF M-2A-2 Personnel Half-Track http://www.aefdesigns.com/Israile_Images/Israeli_Armor.htm
thanks for the help . but i’m trying to do the M3A1 to an M2A1 i’ll poste some pic’s what it’s refering to is they added a gun mount to the roof of the M2 thats what makes it an M2A1. A1 is the ring but what i see i’ll helf to build all of the rear of it. from scratch. to make the M3A1to an M2A1. thanks all man i like this forum you can get some help when you need it.[8]
