tamiya whirblewind finished (pics)

here is the tamiya whirblewind i began a month or two ago this is a fairly old kit i added a set of dragon tracks, weld beads on the turret and home made zim just to try give it a little character its not perfect but im happy with the result and it will take its rightful place on the shelf with the other pIV’s and varients and im glad i managed to squeeze it in before the year end.
thanks for looking and all comments are welcome.

Great job! I’ve always liked the whirblewind. Your zimmerit turned out nice. Thanks for sharing.

Nice job on the old Tamiya kit. On a side note, I’ve often wondered how these tracks managed to shoot down any fast mover. With no radar and a slow Pz IV turret traverse mech…?

I notice your excellent builds do not include figures. Are you ready to take the plunge?, this vehicle sort of cries out for them!

Anyway, again …a solid job.

regards,

Steve

You did a good build there

Ron,

Nice way to cap off the year. [tup]

Hey Steve: The Wirbelwind and Ostwind armored turrets used a different traversing system than the unmodified Pz IV. Quick traverse was one of the prime requirments for mounting the Flaks onto the Mk IVs. In Jentz’ Panzer Tracts 12, he cites a report by sPzAbt 503, praising the Wirbelind. It said that in a short period, the Wirbelwind section had downed 3 enemy a/c with two other probables. The report said it was superior to the 3.7cm Flak Mobelwagen.

Great stuff, Ron!

Nice job on an oldie!

I like it! I hope my old Tamiya Pzkfw IV turns out half as good!

Ron, this looks fantastic again.

Have you ever thought about doing a detailed buildup article? I and a few others would love to read something from you. I would really like to see your techniques, you have weathering down pat.

If you like, I can give you a free image gallery at finescalegallery.com, so you can post all of your pictures in a high res, instead of small for photobucket as well… Let me know what I can do to help.

Amazing like usuall Ron! A great way to finish the year! [tup]

Cool, thanx for the info…

Steve

And yet again!

Nicely done. It looks like it has been to battle.

Biffa,

I see that you were busy building more armor kits during your holiday season. I still haven’t finished most of stuff that I started earlier this year. My new year’s resolution will be to finish what I stared. Happy New Year

many thanks to you all for the great comments and support you have given me not just on this one but the whole year long i have enjoyed sharing your builds and learning from you as much as sharing mine with you, i am looking forward more of the same in the coming year with lots of kits in the stash to build some golden oldies like the one above and some of the latest and greatest,

Ron thanks for the offer to host an article i tried a small SBS a couple of months ago on painting and finishing and plan on attempting a full build SBS when time permits i will drop you an email when the time comes.

Steve i have tried my hand at figs in the past but they were sadly lacking it is something i need to try once more.

M1 i made no new years resolutions for this year ill only break them anyway my only goal is have fun and if its not fun dont do it.[:)]

Me too. Maybe this year will be a little calmer on my end.

Ron, nice way to end the year. Thanks for sharing all the great builds with us this past year. I look forward to many more.

Very nice!!
