Tamiya Type 97 (Late) Finished

More and larger Pictures @ http://matt24.fotopic.net/c1075910.html

Above is the 1/35 Tamiya Type 97 built straight box stock. I’ve always liked this kit. Camouflage masked by Silly Putty. Weathering is pastels, pencil, and a little oil paint. Any comments good or bad are appreciated.

Good looking build. Imperial Japanese Army armor have always been one of my favorite genres.

hi matt -[:D]-- the build is great!i enjoyed the pics on the forum and checked out the rest on fotopic-- super job-- not many guys venture into Japanese armor-- it is a refreshing treat – thanks for the cool pics---- treadwell[:P]

Looks great! Love the look of it!

wow what an awesome looking build! the cammo looks phenominal and the weathering is top notch!

Very nice work!

Always liked that piece, but still to get one. Nice weathering all around to match your equally fine build.

Thanks for all the positive feed back. Everything seemed to come together for a change. I too really like IJA subjects. I wish there were more out there along with the Fine Mold kits.

Really nice build and weathering.[tup][tup] It’s certainly an interesting subject being off the beaten Sherman/T-34/Tiger path.

Wow! Very impressive build. Looks very realistic.

Excellent work there! It’s always nice to see some Japanese armor.

Nice job!!! [tup] I would like to see more IJA armor. Thought several times of building one and now I will.

Thanks guys. These Tamiya IJA armor kits are not the new “super” kits but I grab them when ever I run across one.

Matthew,

That’s a great looking paint job! Funny timing, I’ve been looking for Japanese armor for a while and just ran across one of these kits and bought it yesterday in a LHS. Yours is definitely inspiration for me to get working on it.

What were the colors used?

I did not write them down for a change, but I used Floquil Railroad color Boxcar red for one. And I’m ~90% sure the other two are, Model Master Armor Sand FS 30277, and MM Dark Green FS 34079 all in enamel. The instructions stated to use box for reference.

Nice original and cool. I really like the subtle weathering. An excellently presented project.

Wouldn’t mind trying something similar some day.

Regards,

Terry.

Glad to see the silly putty method worked so well for you. Awesome paint job. Of course had it not worked out, you have my address…[:)].
