The only thing left to do on this is some figures I am waiting for, and chain. This is my second Heavy Skinned build and was a lot of fun building. The tracks were a breeze from all the tips I have picked and now feel comfortable with. The camo is my own rendition.
One thing you might want to try - take some superthin buff or dark yellow (say 10% paint, 90% thinner) and give all of the camo’d areas a light overspray - will help to tie all of the colors together, and tone the edges down a bit.
Looks nice. Two things stand out however. The interior color of the upturned hatch would likely not be ivory but dark yellow. Also, what is that long pole extending from the right of the ammo crane? Is that an antenna? If so, it would interfere with the transverse of the crane. The crew would unscrew it and replace it afterwards. Also, it’s way too thick even if it is an antenna.
WOW! An AMS V.P. chiming in on my build. I am flattered.
Yes that is an antenna that I made from stretched sprue, but I will remove. I will repaint the hatches Dark Yellow and weather.
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
dupes,
When you say, superthin buff or dark yellow (say 10% paint, 90% thinner) and give all of the camo’d areas a light over spray" do you mean with a brush or airbrush.
I have both but this is something I have read about but have been cautios in the steps of progression and also because I don’t want to “muck it” up!
I’m sure dupes means to gently spray over the entire surface to simulate a layer of dust. Do it in layers and be very controlled. This will mute down the extremes in hues that your camouflage makes. Here’s my 1/48 Jagdpanzer IV L70A with a layer of dust.
