Hi
Everyone
I’m thinking about purchasing an upgrade kit for my Tamiya SAS Jeep. But noticed 2 different ones for sale on evilbay. One is by Verlinden the other is by Legend. Any opinions which is better?
Thanks
Scott
P.S. I won’t be surprised if someone say there the same kit because they really do look a lot a like. Thanks Again.
I have seen the Verlinden set, its pretty nice. I have not seen the Legend set, but based on other Legend products, it will be much better than Verlinden’s. I’d go with Legend.
there’s also supposed to be a kit comming out to convert the 1/24th scale jeeps over to an SAS Jeep
gary
See if you can find the Italeri Commando car (sic)
much better jeep, & tons of weapons & stores!
Scott, those update sets are not for the Tamiya SAS Jeep. They are for the newer Tamiya Willys Jeep to convert it to an SAS Jeep (a much better option). I’ve built the old Tamiya SAS Jeep OOB with just some bits of styrene as depicted in the instructions and actually turned out a contest winner.
The newer Tamiya Willys Jeep can be had for about $10 (even less if you buy one at a Hobby Lobby with the 40% off coupon).
The Italeri Commando Car is a different SAS Jeep, one used in Northern Europe late in the war while the Tamiya SAS Jeep is a North Africa variant.
Ditto to all of the above…one cool thing about the old Tamiya SAS jeep are the two cool figgies with desert garb and head-towels and bass-a$$ poses…they even have beards, which many of the veteran SAS men sported…I would buy the kit just to get those figs to put in whatever jeep you settle on…
Rob G: I was aware that the Italeri jeep was the N European version, but it can be built as a N Africa Variant, without the armour shields & fuel tanks.
Perhaps I didn’t make that clear [oops]
.
IMHO [:P] Having built both the early Tamiya SAS jeep & many Italeri ones, I think it’s a better jeep, has waay better Vickers K guns, & can be found ‘online’ for $7.00 - $10.00
.
The Tamiya has the figures though…
.
I can’t comment about the newer Tamiya jeep, haven’t seen that…
Those crazy guys at another well known site have posted a build in braille scale:
http://armorama.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=2394&page=1 [:O]
& there is a 1/48th jeep available as well… [:-^]
