Up until last week i havent painted a figure in a couple of years and those were some of the Dragon 1/16 kits which i thought were cool then last week while bored i grabbed my oil paints and started messing around with some Miniart figs and was actually suprised with the outcome and although i probably wont be adding them to my armour anytime soon i may build a small vignette for them but they did get me in the mood for another 1/16 fig so i grabbed this one and went at it i still have a long way to go but its a nice break from armour, everything is basecoated with acrylics then i used oils for the rest.
Thanks guys i appreciate the encouragment, Huxy please feel free to post more pics of your guy i would like to see them he looks great and congrads on the silver.
Just got through checking your Wip thread huxy and thouroly totaly enjoyed it i hope my equipment turns out that good and you were dead right about it inspiring me and while i cant wait to get him done i will try have patience and get him done right like yours. [:)]
biffa, welcome back to the fig world … even if for the moment. I’m not too big into German builds but, like Huxy’s … your’s is well on it’s way. Your 1/35 figs look good too. Nice work!..
I remember Huxy’s thread we wound up talking about hair shades and I agree- blond is the hardest to pull off- but this guy… Very nicely done, almost a feathered in shading like the real deal- especially the backside. It’s more of a golden brown than a yellow, that’s always been my mistake. You nailed it!
Thank you guys for the kind words im not sure about talent i have no real method when doing these i just fumble along until it looks ok to me and thats what i did with this one and must admit i am quite pleased with him he wasnt the easiest to do because of lack of any real facial features i think but as i said i am pleased, i threw together a small base for him and here he is hope he meets your approval also.
Wow… this looks amazing. The dirt on his knees and everywhere… looks like real dirt.
Very well done- love the base- what kind of vegitation did you use? Looks like some of the real deal that’s been dryed up. The only issue I have is his back foot looks too blended into the ground, like it’s attached.
Not really a big issue, if you gave it a little bit of a dark shadding wash around the boot/ground seam I think that’d really make it pop, but just my 2 cents
Thanks for the feedback guys the problem with the boots/dirt and and MG are both camera problems the camera tends to blend the dirt on the floor and boots together and it cant seem to distinguish them apart but in reality it doesnt look as bad same with the mg i have got a slightly better camera and a tripod now hopfully i can improve on the pics but all points were taken and looked at and appreciated, thanks.
Just my [2c] worth, the MG looks like it is slipping off his shoulder. With the weight of a squad weapon like that, I’d be carrying it further up, closer to his neck ?
