Tamiya PBR kit wanted

I want to build this kit soooo bad…BUT I cannot find it anywhere. I do have a Tamiya Corsair F4u-1d kit sealed for trade for a “Pibber” …

Thanks

Someone had one recently on Hyperscale’s ‘Plane Trading’ forum…also check Ebay, they’re all over the place over there, usually quite cheap.

I have a PBR Mk 1 in 1/32 scale resin kit from Paddinghouse that I might consider swapping, I’ve painted the hull already so you’re halfway there.

Awww… Jeff, ain’t you just the nicest… LOL

How is the Pibber kit by the way. I’ve been wanting to build one for a while. Accurate? good fit?

Heya Jon,

What are you doin hanging around the docks, huh?? You rotorheads are supposed to be over at the airfield. Oh, btw, Heather Dawn told me to tell you that she loves you and she says thanks for ‘working her over’ !! All I have to do is convince her to get that nosejob!

The Tamiya PBR is a good kit, add in some Verlinden Vietnam era baggage, ammo boxes, etc., and you’ve got a real kicker.

PS: For those who have no clue what I was talking about, ‘Heather Dawn’ is my AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter that Jon’s been restoring. Yes, I have a real AH-1 Cobra…

Jeff,

Well give Miss Heather a nice big kiss for me and tell her I’ll see her in August. We should have a party for her in September when the book’s released! Speaking of which, they’ve got me doing another project now on Afghanistan and Iraq and Apache ops there. Should be interesting.

In any case, thanks for the info on the Pibber. I’m dyin to build one, guess I should go for it!

Later!

Jon

Tamiya kits are some of the best in the business…but the PBR2 is ONE GOOD KIT! I had alot of FUN on this one with no problems!

I do regret the decals a bit now and the BEATTLES poster would have been ‘whimpy’ for Nam but it turned out ok…can you see the small arms hit to the radar dome?

PE-64,

Great shots of the PBR, but I gotta say I much prefer the ahem… Biker Scout? Cool concept.

Thanks Cobra![:D]

I have talked to Huey Pilots that tried real hard to get into COBRAS in Nam…Man they wanted to fly the SPORTS CAR of Nam soooo bad!

I don’t blame them one bit!..the few Cobra Pilots that I have met said they LOVED IT![:p]

PE-64,

Keep an eye out for new releases from Osprey Publishing then. My book will be out on Sept 25. I interviewed over a hundred Cobra pilots and ground crews for it!

Sounds good!..Keep us informed![:D]

There are currently three Tamiya PBRs in the local hobby shop here in PDX, OR.

They have a website, but it is not very functional yet.

However, I think they wanted $32 dollars US.

Got my kit…
Thank you everyone for helping me out.
