Tamiya Panther G Pretty Much Done

Hi All,

Just wanted to share this with you, it will be going into a dio in a little bit, so there’s still a teeny bit of weathering to do once it’s on the base.

PE skirts and grills were used, rest built OOB. chips done with Vallejo gunmetal paint, and a good ol’ pencil. There are three layers of dust, first Europe Dust followed by Brick Dust from M. P., and grey pastel for a final top coat…Need to readjust the jerry cans a smidgen as one looks like it’s gonna fall off. Things like the spare wheel and tarps are covering some booboos which I could not fix, and kinda had to hide…especially the grills, stupid CA glue solidifed in alot of the screening, and attempts to poke it out were wrecking the grills.

Still a bit to go, but enjoy, comments/crits welcome!

OMG…I just saw Dwight’s post of his Panther G…Dwight I swear, I didn’t steal your paint job!! LOL

Hi Kelly. Funny how close yours and Dwight’s camo is. Twilight Zone here. LOL Anyhoo, good job as always. The stowage on the front is unusual, at least from what I’ve seen. Nice bullet marks on the turret.

Looks fantastic! I’m a great fan of the good old pencil too!

He he, another ocean floor camo…

Pencil is still good for finah detail and last minute thingi. I did the meal scrathces also with silver pencil. Save time and can be easily remove.

Hey Kelly, can you kindly take pic of the matel chain with measuring tape next to it ?
I wonder how small are they.

Ben

Thanks guys for the comments!

Tigerman, I know the stowage is a bit different, but like I said, there were a few booboos that needed to be covered up hahaha

Will be playing around a little more with it once it’s on the base…

Carves, unfortunately, I don’t have a digi camera, a friend takes them for me. But I can tell you the chain is purchased in my LHS, in the ship building section, it’s a black brass kind, and for the life of me can’t remember the size…but it’s almost like the size of necklace chian.

Looks great!

Great-looking Panther! I like the stowage. I’ve always wondered why you never see any in pictures…where did they put their stuff? Perhaps the support vehicles were never far behind!

The scratches are also superbly done. Nice job!

Hey J-Hulk, thanks for the comments…

I kind of look at the vehicle and see where the heck crews would put stowage, alot of pics show stowage being crammed in just about every place possible…Will be adding more rope for those jerrycans, the more I look at it, the more I"m not liking it, should look a little different once on the base…

cheers,\

Kelly

Looks really cool.

Terry.

Looking good! I like the camo on this one

Kelly, excellent work on your Panther. Nice use of the tarp to hide the booboos. Did you try some acetone to remove the CA glue. Well anyway the tarp is what I call a happy accident since you probably wouldn’t have used it if the grill was in perfect condition.

TigerII

I really don’t think Acetone is a good idea. if you got fingernails try using them to chip the CA off of the areas they accidentally got on as Acetone would probably take the CA off but also take off the paint as well.

Thanks guys…

It’s not really a question of chipping off the CA glue, but more like drilling…I’ve tried to drill out and even take a needle to try and poke the glue out, but these methods have resulted in the mesh breaking…sigh…always seems like something goes wrong during a build! LOL

Just gotta plug on!!

well you can take the grill off with superglue debonder like the debonder made by Duro just put it on and let it set for about a minute and the grill should slide off and if you cover the whole grille with debonder while taking the grilel off the glue should come off the holes. don’t know if it will take paint off but I know that the debonder I use works pretty good. but you will have to at least clean off the areas the debonder was on afterwards or else the glue probably won’t stick the next time. Oh and if you want to use superglue without it getting all over everything use a toothpick or a microbrush for prescision application.

Fantastic job! The scratches are nicely done.

Thanks for the tips guys, I’ll keep that in mind…I do normally use a toothpick for all my CA applications, but I think I may have got too much on the edges before I put the mesh down…

Dwight, thanks, it’s scary how our schemes are alike! LOL

I know. Weird isn’t it?[:D]

[:D] We’ll just have to consult each other before our next builds so we don’t end up with the same thing! hahaha

Amazing work. Chipping is so subtle, really well done. Always love to see your work as a precursor to the finished dio. Looking forward to it.

Great work, my Panthers look bad now. Really like the camo and weathering to it.
