I know, i know i always keep asking questions here but im so curious. anyways my question is do you put on a primer coat when working with Tamiya Acrylics? I just started working with them and i dont have a clue what or how to use them but i guess that’s what trying them accomplishes
Also many thanks to the previous Modelers who were kind enough to answer my previous questions. thx!
You can use Tamiya primer. Or, if you want something a little more durable, you could use a lacquer based primer or auto primer. Then there’s what I do, clean what you’re gonna paint and start painting. I don’t use a primer except the black that I pre-shade with. Tamiya acrylics are pretty durable, at least in my experience. Good luck.
I’ve been spraying MM and Tamiya acrylics with my AB without using a primer coat and they look fine.
I always use a primer with Acrylics… had a time or two with tape lifting up the paint underneath etc and am sold now. You can use MM Grey primer, Tamiya primer or even Krylon or auto primer. any of them work fine. When using a white, yellow or silver overcoat it always helps in coverage as well. i.e. less coats to get the coverage you want. Just use a white primer with light colors, a grey or black primer with darker colors.
Good luck to you!
