I need help. Currently thinking bout building both a Spitfire Mk1 and a BF-109E4, a BoB dou[:D] But i want to noe which i one is better. Wat are the disadvantages of the tamiya kits and hasegawa kits? BTW, thanx in aDvance!
Search the finescale archives - there are quite a few posts about this comparison! Personally, I think you’re doing great with either manufacturer. Their products are have nice detail, right scale, and generally fit well.

it has detail review on Me-109(Bf-109) in various scale in both Tamiya and Hasegawa.
In addition, Hasegawa also makes both Spirtfire Mk1 and Me-109E in 1/32 scale. The Me-109E is designed in mid-late 1970’s, the detail is quite OK with a decent cockpit and engine. The Spirtfire Mk1 is actually evolved from the old Spirtfire Mk 5 from the 1970’s, therefore detailis are limited but it is still very decent(IMHO). For these 1/32 kits, if you love more detail you will need aftermarket kits. BTW, I’ve heard the latest Revell 1/32 Spirtfire Mk 1 is from the same mold from Hasegawa. It might cost you less. But don’t confuse this with another much older Revell 1/32 Spirtfire Mk 1 designed in the 1960’s, it was an obsolete kit.
The Tamiya 1/48 Spirtfire Mk1 is one of the best plane models I’ve ever built. The fitting is excellent. The only very minor disappointment is the instrument panel, the meters have no dials marking and needles marked on them. Each meter is mere a flat disk.

I just finished the Tamiya bf109E a few weeks ago and I just started on their mk1. Anthonys right about the spit’s instrument panel and neither Tamiya kit provides any type of engine. Several manufacturer make detail kits for both of these models to fix this. The 109 was a sweet model. FSM did a feature on it some time back and their remarks were right on the money. I had a little problem with the engine cowling, nothing a light sanding could not fix. The prop blades are a little too small (if you’re really picky) but a resin replacement is available. The 109’s canopy went on flawlessly. I’ve only managed to cut the door from the cockpit of the spit but from looking at it I’d say it should be a nice build as well. I can’t provide any info an Hasegawa but a lot of the folks around here like 'em just as much as Tamiya. -like trying to decide between a BMW and a Mercedes.

IMHO, pick the one that’s in your budget, and go for it. You can’t go wrong with either manufacturer. Just make sure to show us the build when complete!

Well if you want to focus on 1/32 scale, the Hasegawa Me-109E and its Spritfire Mk1 are you only choice, since Tamiya does not make them in this scale.
For 1/48 scale in Spitfire Mk1, Tamiya is the only choice, Hasegawa only produces later Spritfire(Mk5, Mk9 etc). For 1/48 Me-109, well, you may have to flip a coin[:)]. Well why don’t you give Hasegawa a try, since your Sprit already is from Tamiya.
