Picked this kit up on Friday. Wow, it was expensive. However, the detail I have seen in the last 3 Tamiya kits is worth it. This also comes with a fair amount of history and description. I like that a lot. In addition, it has that little tractor with it. That will be fun. Any suggestions on a scheme? The camoflauge illustrated is going to be a tough one. It appears to be a series of thin squiggly lines. I don’t know about this.
Maybe do Adolph Galland’s scheme from JV44?? I’ll try to find pics…

Good choice my friend. I finished up the Tamiya 262 just a few months ago.
BOY what a beaut she is…!!! Its straight out of the box too. The only thing building wise to watch out for is the optional open or closed gun bay doors.
If you picked to have them closed, there will be some sanding and a lot of dry fitting but other than that the Swallow was a blast to build.
As for decal options, I went w/ Eagle Strikes “Too late, Too Little” I for get which part though. I want to say pt2.
The scheme is actually two tone, RLM82 upper surfaces while the underside was light blue(forgot the RLM nunber DUH[:p]).

So you didn’t go with the squiggly camo scheme shown in the directions. It appears that the top is a solid color, as is the bottom. Is that accurate. It appears to be a light green.
Did you build the little tractor? It does not show a color scheme in the directions although on the box it appears to be flat yellow. Is that accurate?

The interesting thing about the little vignette Tamiya made with this kit, is that it’s a moment from an actual piece of film that you’ve probably seen on Discovery Channel, of a 262 being towed. The little figures duplicate the poses of the two flight crew, some poor nameless Luftwaffe blackmen who are probably long gone and will never know they’ve been immortalized in plastic.

The top is RLM 82 like I had said ealier and the Lt green band is RLM 83.
The bottom is definetly a lt blue and not a green.
As for the tractor it could be the dark gray like the one on John Ps model or it could be various other colors.
What I mean by that is, where are they located, the time frame, the season. Get the picture[:p]
You could paint it up gray or even a mustard yellow w/ green camo. Well the last part may be a lil off the wall but then again what paints did they have lying around?

I only wish Tamiya had watched ‘Wings of the Luftwaffe’ on Discovery a lot closer. Then it would be obvious that the leading edge slats should be out when the aircraft is on the ground. A mechanic was even shown adjusting them in the film!
So I think I’ll wait for their update of the kit before I buy it, much as I like the Stormbird, though no doubt there’s a new resin wing with separate slats/ flaps and other bits on the way from someone in the ‘cottage’ industry. But if not, why not?

Thank you to kindly my friend!! [;)] Also Czech Master’s kits #4114(For the Tamiya Me262A) does a set that includes the interior, the control surfaces as well as the leading edge slats.
