This looks like a fun build. A lot of realistic looking detailing. Great job.

Love this one, tojo. Tons of real life detail and dusty weathering.

My only question: where’re the Tommies who’ve left their SMLEs in the racks!?

Amazing job. Love the weathering.

Another question is why are they not #4 Rifles? They could be Mk III* in the desert. Mind SAS were also like to be seen with Ross Mk III rifles and the odd Pattern 1913.

Those trucks got used both for cargo and for troops, so a person could fit them out to have 6-8 dudes aboard (and all their gear), or just the two (and a bunch of cargo).

I just build out of box for the most part, not overly concerned with accuracy,I just build for fun.

I sure hope you didn’t take my comment as criticism! Was just having some fun, as someone who’s just beginning to dabble in figures myself, and that kit’s just begging for some. But as-is, it’s a wonderful build and the weathering is supremely lifelike. I can’t stop looking at the leather bench seat :astonished: and I love the map.

In fact, I must admit it sent me down a lengthy Wikipedia rabbit hole the other night all about the Long Range Desert Group.

No, criticism is fine,I just don’t get involved as to whether its the right rifle or the wrong pack etc..etc.
I’ve had a lot of compliments on the seat and can’t be sure f I could replicate the process,I know I started with Tamiya XF-64 and went with washes and pigments
I like to add figures, but sometimes cost or suitability come into play.

Same here, I’d drive myself literally insane if I went for accuracy. Outa the box with a few modifications just because. I enjoy it a lot more that way.

Diggin your LRDG Anthony a lot and it so happens that I got the same boxing as you!
Not too sure exactly what I want to do with mine but I have a wheel set from DEF Models and a photo etched set from Eduards.
I do know though that after seeing yours, I’m itching to.do mine!
Thank you for sharing!
Happy Modeling,
Mike

This is a really neat detail. The rifles could have been part of the stack of supplies that the SAS stole from a New Zealand regiment before they went into action. ANZAC (Australian & New Zealand Army Corps) forces received virtually no No.4 Enfield rifles during World War II, but Australia produced SMLE No.1 Mk.III* rifles domestically. We never changed over to producing No.4’s since we couldn’t justify disrupting production lines to retool. It remained the standard service rifle for the Australian Army until we adopted the L1A1 SLR in 1959
