I recently found a new (to me) kind of TAMIYA modeling putty. It’s supposed to set up when exposed to light–the stronger the light, the faster it is supposed to harden. The box said it would harden in one minute when exposed to direct sunlight and in a few minutes under incandescent lighting. It does as advertised when I put a blob of it on my workbench; but, when I apply it to a model, it never hardens. Do any of you have an experience with this stuff?
Hi, Don!
I’ve seen that stuff, but passed on it due to it’s high price.
Some buddies here in Osaka have used it and love it, though. No complaints about it not hardening.
I think the instructions when doing application to models is to apply in thin layers so that each layer has an opportunity to “absorb” light to harden.
This putty is supposed to be used in a solarium [:D]
No, serious now, the thing with this kind of putty is that it does not harden because of the light, but because of the UV light, just put your model under a UV light-source and you’ll see that it cures.
This sounds like some neat stuff. Where can you get it?
