Well I ranted and raved about this kits over 2 months ago whooping with joy about how cool it was. Then I got sucked into some MAD GBs and it kinda got left on the shelf. Last night I went all out and painted the sucker. It has 2 decals missing and a window (lost to the carpet monster). The decals will be fitted eventually , when I get round to building a dio for it .The window? … weeeelll Im sure some got broken or lost in real life (ahem).
The pics… This is the first time I can say Im not happy with my pics.Generally they turn out pretty good but these ones dont really show the dust up as it looks in real life , but enough excuses here they are.

Wow great job. I love the way you make models look. It has the similar look to it like the jeep did. Love it.
Looks impressive enough to me! The photos are certainly better than most of the ones I take.
The dust/mud is particularly well done. I always find this hard to get right.
My only suggestion for improvement would be some dirt in the tyre treads. I normally do this by first painting the entire tyre surface in the mud/dust/dirt colour, then, when dry, heavily dry-brushing it with black or dark grey.
This works for tank tracks too (substituting a dark metallic colour for black)
deusemex, excellent job on that LAV! great pics, thanks much!
I think it came out looking pretty darn nice Rob! The weathering outstanding from what I can see. I think this is one of the first JGSDF LAV’s we"ve seen on the forum. Very nice job. Thanks for sharing with us. Semper Fi, mike
[:D] nice job on this kit,it looks great.[:D]
I’ve put myself on a kit-buying ban, but this one is at the top of the list once the embargo is lifted! You’ve got a good looking build there. The photos are good to these untrained eyes, too.
So, were there any problems or surprises with this kit? Don’t keep us in the dark. “We have ways of making you talk.”
nice nice … clap clap clap …
I’d say that came out pretty doggone well! The dust looks great. How did you do it?
Great lookin LAV!!! It just looks like a great fun vehicle to drive. Makes me want to go out and do some muddin in my truck [:D][:p][:o)]
A very nice little build. Thanks for sharing. The dusting actually shows up quite nicely in that pic of the rear of the vehicle.
Cheers guys. The kit went together very well . the outer body fits the chassis so well it doesnt even need glue , which is cool cos I found the missing window and was able to fit it this morning.I cant think of any fit problems at all with this kit. Plus points for me are that it comes with 5 little transparent goggles which I`ll be using on future Iraq type dios.
The tyres are nice but a pain to file of the seam ,there are also a lot and I mean a LOT of ejector holes to fill if you want the doors open.Which is why my lazy butt left them shut.
Weathering on this I just went for one colour dust , I normally go through various shades of mud , but for then desert dust look just one was enough.I use games workshop acrylics which although very nice to work with dont really come in muted colours . GW have brought out a couple of more muted colours tho recently all in earth tones and one which is what I use for OD.
Anyhoo the dust colour was called Kommando Khaki which is a light buff colour .I use 2 brushes. one with paint and a wide dry brush.I dab on a little of the colour then use the dry brush to spread it about. If Im doing mud effects Ido the same thing starting with the darkest colour and work my way up the model gradually getting lighter. The whole dusting process on this took all of 10 minutes , its very therapeutic attacking something you spent days on with a half inch brush. Id recommend trying this technique out on something cheap tho as I dont want to be responsible for someone screwing up the latest tank transporter resin mega bucks kit , should it go wrong.
