Hello;
I am building the Tamiya F4U1A and there is a clear part that goes in front of the gunsight on an angle. Would anyone know what this was used for and if it was in the 1A model?

That would be the sight’s reflector. The body of the gunsight is actually a projector. The round top of the sight is the projection lens and projects the sight’s reticle (cross-hairs)onto that slanted piece of glass. This is a VERY high level overview. No need to go into “lead computing” or setting the target’s wingspan into the sight. http://www.google.com/search?tbm=isch&hl=en&source=hp&biw=1400&bih=864&q=reflector+gunsight&gbv=2&aq=0&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=reflector+gun This ridiculously long URL will take you to google images of reflector gunsights. All the best Ray
OK thanks I will check out the google site.
