Well here I am again asking you guys for help before I go buy a kit. I saw the Tamiya F4F-4 Wildcat in 1/48 at a local hooby store, on clearance for like $8.50. Sounds really cheap to me. Then I thought about it and that kit had been there for weeks for $12 and no one bought it? So they lowered the price again to $8.50. So is it worth it? Is it a good OOTB kit? Thanks.

My only advice is at that price buy 2 or 3 of them. They are great little kits, with plenty of detail OOB. The fit is absolutely fantastic.
Dave-it’s a great kit. Just watch out on installing the landing gear-not impossible, just tricky and find the posting on how to cut out the interior floor. I wish I had a couple in my stash.
Buy it. Buy two. You won’t be sorry. It’s a sweet kit.

It is an excellent kit. Well engineered, great detail, easy to assemble. It would be hard not to make a great looking Wildcat from that kit. I’d even go so far as to say that’s one of the best 1/48 Tamiya kits there is. [tup] [tup]

Well guys I took everyones advice and bought the last wildcat kit for $8.99, I thought it was $8.50 but I was not going to pass it up for $8.99. I opened the box and it looks great. I would have bought more but that was it. All the other clearance items was stuff I did not want. Im not really sure why this kit was on clearance, it seemed kinda out of place? Anyway thanks everyone for the advice.
I should have just asked you for the address of the Hobby Shop and not told you how great the kit is!!!

I built that kit a few years ago and found that the decals were way to thick but otherwise an exelent kit.
Yuppers, you’ll need to use lots of Microsol to get the decals flush over the rivets, but it will look great when you’re done! [:)]
