tamiya extra thin and airbrush cleaner are the same

was watching the latest offering from will patterson , and at the end of his video , he said that tamiyas airbrush cleaner and extra thin glue were the same product . which I found very interesting indeed .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOB4lGz-DSA

it’s at about the 18 minute mark .

I saw that too. The data from the two products are the same. One has something like <1% difference from the same ingredient as the other. That’s the only difference and they apparently behave exactly the same. By volume the cleaner is way cheaper. Wonder what Tamiya will do if anything.

Now that is interesting. I’d need a lot more convincing though before putting extra thin cement in the ol’ airbrush! [:|]

but on the reverse side MM , it will make extra thin a lot cheaper .

That’s the truth. One container of thinner would last me quite a while as a cement substitute!

Soooo, Who is going to try it first as glue then?

I haven’t any Tamiya airbrush cleaner to try it with

I personally use an automotive thinner as my glue. It works just as well as TET if a bit smellier, but at €6 per liter that is something I can put up with. I also use it to clean up the most stubborn paint stains.
