Rebuilding a Pocher Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza. Having trouble with getting Testors 1204 Gloss Dark Red to apply evenly. Is there a close Tamiya equivalent? It looks like TS-8 Italian Red over a gray primer might work.
Hi Miata,
Correct, Tamiya’s TS-8 Italian red would definitively work.
In regards to primer, I’d use either a red oxide or a dark gray.
If that’s not dark enough for you, you can always spray Tamiya’s clear red TS-74 over the main color?
There is also TS-33 Dull Red but Italian red over a dark primer would work a lot better.
If anything, I’d test it out on some scrap plastic first just to see.
Hope that this helpd?!
Happy Modeling,
Mike
There is an app which is very helpful with these questions. I’m sorry I can’t remember the name of the forum member who recommended it, but it is called “Hobby Color Converter.” It lists all the manufacturers, all of their colors, and cross references the colors across the data base. Works like a champ! Best of look on your color match!
The Hobby Color Converter app looks like a great resource but it used to only be for Android. Is it available for iphone now too?
No, I forgot about that, but there are similar apps for Apple such as Model Colors, Model Paints, and paintRack.
