Tamiya Citroen Traction 11 CV 1/35 Scale

~ Thank you Gil ~ I really appreciate the interest and those comments. It’s a fun build.

~ Subfixer ~ Buddy hows the U-boat business latley? Jammin along I bet? Yeah man, I love the Trek, STNG, or any of them, though I hadn’t concidered Picard here yet…

I must have it both scales…

Mark Bannerman on 18/09/2009 18:14:11: "Adam - the figure is coming along superbly ! " , Mark Thank you greatly Mark! Progress on the figure, he’s getting close :
He needs a bit more work to items like his shirt maybe, and the volice(although that, and the small looking left hand will be entirely hidden behind the car door, so perhaps not. Meanwhile,it’s on to chroming! Oh and it’s worth mentioning that while I just got my Alclad II from Squadron.com, I see now that the full line of Alclad products are now handled by http://www.scalehobbyist.com/ and the little 1 Fl.Oz. bottle of chrome from them is only $5.49 USD !! Very afordable. We always notice these deals once we’ve already paid, don’t we!?><><><><><>Cheers boys…Indy

Ok, so I got my chrome applied :
A little clever masking got the headlight rings too, but I wasn’t about to try it on the tiny bonnet handles. The colour of the Alclad II is nice, I like it, though I’m not completely blown-away at it’s resembalance to chrome. Maybe one of the buffing paints is better ?, or maybe in a larger scale ?(usually used on 1/25 scale cars) or maybe even more polish is needed under it? Anyway, it is a joy to spray, very easygoing to apply, straight from the bottle, like it says(Do Not Thin) Wheel hubs we’re sprayed with the usual circle template with no mishaps Afterward, tires were drybrushed with Floquil Grimy Black, then Grimy & Primer Grey to bring up the meager tread detail. A little dusty dirt in the treads and they will be done. All the tiny bits of this kit are very tiny, but importaint, these handles are a very elegant addition on the real Citroen. I sprayed these parts on the sprue, clipped them off and finished spraying whilst holding them in tweezer. Probablly had the paint in the AB too long doing it.

It was however a real pain to get the airbrush clean, even with the patented Alclad II Laquer Air Brush Cleaner I had bought some time back, as a just-in-case. It seems the Alclad formed some sizable metal flakes inside my AB. I would reccomend NOT using your best detail gun( as I did), and working fast,( as I didn’t) This cleaner is very similar to regular laquer thinner(going by the odor), I couldn’t tell if it was any more effective , I tried both. The thing that really saved me during cleaning, was this : It’s the latest thing in toothpicks! Have you seen these?)It’s the tiniest tube-brush I’ve ever seen, and works great for AB clean-up, you can find them in the toothcare dept. at the local drugstore in 5-packs. Ok, on to assembly ~ pretty soon things will really take shape ! Thanks for hangin in!

Plenty left to do with the small details Still not to final assembly, I’ve begun with some pin washes & other weathering, especially to the wheels They just don’t look real to me perfectly clean. I also did some careful painting with some very thinned blue-black over the chrome, and I liked that. I know the lightings not ideal on these shots but it’s gotten a little late to re-shoot tonight At least you can get an idea how the darkened chrome looks and the upolstery past the silver paint. ~ Anybody know if the door handle goes back to horizontal when open - or does it hang straight down? ~ …

Have this complete before long guys…Indy

Oh, I’m in LOVE! I really, really love that one now! And the guy… [:D]

I’m 'bout to place a Kübelwagen update… If you want to see dirty cars, jump over to armour (Should be renamed Drirty Armour [:-^] )

But seriously, I love it… But the hands on the gu look wrong… Perhaps beause it’s gloves with skincolour…!

I CANNOT wait to see it done!!

Indy, please check your PM’s…

~ yes Sir…on that MoFo.

~ A small update on the small parts…

~ Still going at the little bits of it ~
Doing a little damage despite taking my time…(as in the Licence decal) have to do a little careful painting there. Note that you can see the chrome hood latches on the silver paint. It seems that for small detail areas Tamiya XF-16 Flat Aluminum is a passable match for the Alclad(which would flow down all over the car!) and is easy to brush on . Still trying to get decent results with the windows \ More / Finished soon…Indy

You should turn the two headlights glass from orizontal to vertical.

Looking good btw…

~ Brizio…recent research concurs. Thank you. Indy blew it on that 1.[:-^]

Great looking auto INDY.

very nice figure as well. [tup]

~ Lbro ~ Thanks X2 !

TEST SHOTS

Instead of the masking with provided template, I tried to use liquid mask, so I could spray with the Alclad, and although it seemed to stay inside the window frame I ended up with a really jagged edge. ~ At this later stage of this “little” build I am considering scratching replacements for some of the tinyest parts, though I’m doing more harm than good by continued handling of the little fragile glossy auto. I love it, but can’t wait to get back into a tank! Here the windscreen is just dryfitted. Im sending to Tamiya for a replacement sprue of the clear parts as they are just not up to snuff with the rest of it. Never done that before.(Another first for me!) So here it is, short of the window glass, just needing a few tiny details to the figure, and placement in a well-lit area. I like how it looks here despite the above, thanks to you guys for your help with it… Indy

~Guys, my projects on the shelf for a bit, until I get the windows and the final small parts(wipers) in place. In the meatime I’ve tried a concept shoot, using a left-over base from the spares box and a very old Tamiya item I’ve never placed anywhere “Mounted Wehrmacht”, was my 1st horse & 1st use of oils for a figure, a few years ago. In the end, I intend to have the Gent looking down a long street with aproaching german armour, perhaps with this rider at it’s front, perhaps with a few improvements. All we really need to see here is that the Citroen is doing it’s part nicely . Maybe gets some add’l weathering after placement, but it should look good in place, don’t ya think?

I really like your dio idea, and the car and his driver look fantastic!!!

The only advice I have is maybe to update that Wehrmacht figure. DML makes a great kit with (2) horses and riders on it. The detail will be better on both the figures and steeds as compared to the old Tamiya kit.

I have personally built that Tamiya kit, and I just think if you are doing a dio with armor coming down the street, these figs will not take away from the scene. With all that hard work done on the vehicle, it would be a shame to let the old Tamiya kit “steal” the show, because it isn’t detailed as well as other kits.

Just my [2c] Looking great, by the way!!!

~Marcus ~ Thanks so much, that’s really nice. Hey your imput’s spot on --that rider is looking inaccurate, he’s just there for discussion sake(worked, hehe) he represents the head of the aproaching armor collum rollin in, just for these photos + I never shown him before–see why? LOL It’s all good. thanks again!

Indy

Yea, I figured that wasn’t going into the overall end product. I really think that DML kit will work really well for what your trying to do. The one rider is pointing and yelling, that could be put into effect with the civilians or something.

All in all, I just think you would get something much better with that kit in your dio, and besides… I want to some Wehrmacht troops on horseback!!![:D]

how did you make the cobble stone? thank you.

It was leftover from This Mini-Art kit :

“City street with ruined building”

I only used the ruins for “In Russian Hands”

I needed a little larger base, and the Verlinden cobblestones we’re MUCH better(although alot more $$$ especially for 2)

But once you oun some, you can make copies for your own use. Here a few ways :

thank you! that helped quite a bit!

Nice job!!!
