Hi Armour people, I come in peace [;)] I’m thinking about buying the Tamiya Churchill Mk.VII 1/35 for the backward build job. Has anyone built it? Is it ok for a newbie tank builder and generally wet-behind-the-ears model builder?

its a good kit theres the Crocodile version, (its got the flame thrower trailer with it)
and theres the newer version without the trailer, but comes with some great figures
there both the same kit
its a good easy kit, im working on one at the moment and ive added a Jordi Rubio barrel to it
the tracks are one peice and fit easly
I fancied the Crocodile version! I saw it in the July issue of FSM. But I can’t seem to find it for sale in the UK. Is it an old kit? There’s one going on ebay at the mo, early 80s version so the seller says, but it’s already 16 quid with over a day to go. And I won’t be around tomorrow! [banghead] Will it be as good a fit as current Tamiyas?

i built the crocodile, my second armour model and it turned out great! the crocodile kit can be built as a Churchill VII croc, or a normal Churchill VII. I too could not find the croc in stores, so i got mine off of military hobbies.ca (http://www.militaryhobbies.ca/product.cfm?ProductID=776)

ive seen a crocodile version at hannants 2 months ago for £16.99, you could try there
it was a rare kit before its limited rerelease and went for £80 at some shows

Hannants was the first place I looked actually. I can’t find it there, they just seem to have the same version as at Wonderland:

I have that kit (not the Croc, the regular one), and it looks ok. New Tamiya kits are usually pretty easy. I’ll be starting it sometime next month, I hope. I’m going to take advantage of the extra figures to do a dio as well. I’ll keep you posted. What part of England are you from, Darren?
Hi Buff, I’m from Yorkshire in the north of England. Where we’re having yet another thunderstorm at the mo!
Do you make a lot of diormas? I must admit, I’d like to do one sometime. I once had an idea to do a kind of murder mystery, with a body and suspects, but I think it was a bit fanciful and ambitious [;)]

Any further north and you’d be in my wife’s backyard. She’s from Newcastle (Howay the lads!!) She’s even got our son saying that.
I have yet to make any dioramas since starting building again last winter. I am going to mount my current build on a base with some vegetation, so I can practice “landscaping” on a small scale before doing a full dio. I bought the Churchill specifically because I wanted to use the farmer figure for my first go, and because it looked a really neat tank.
I know Newcastle very well! It’s a great place, one of my favourite cities. My girlfriend, who now lives with me down here in Yorkshire, was living up there when we met, by the sea in Tynemouth. I used to stay up there every other weekend. The only reason we settled here was because I had a job here at the time and she worked from home. Now we both work from home so I think we’re heading to the coast again soon! [:)]

No, not really, He doesn’t hear enough Geordie. My wife’s accent has flattened out after 10+years in Canada. On the other hand, when they come back from a trip home, he does a pretty fair imitation of Alan Shearer[:D]
I’ve just picked the Tamiya Mk.VII so am ready to go!
