Cool. Great looking car. Following along.
Got some time today, shot the body with Tamiya TS-15 blue, shot the under carriage with Tamiya TS-14 black, got the front suspension and brakes painted up. Just letting things dry a bit.
You are off to a good start my friend! I too have the same kit and I had done a lot of sub-assemblies before putting it on the back burner.
Lookin forward to more WIPs!

Thanks, I was caught off guard with the lack of the upper part of the engine and the molded hood. I’ve never built a car kit that the hood didn’t open.
Yer welcome D! You’ll find with Tamiya’s line of cars, it will be a mixed bag.
Some cars will have a complete engine/engine bay, while some will have a half a motor and others will be a “curbside” kit aka no engine at all.
I’m a huge NSX fan and at one point, I had all of Tamiya’s NXS line.
Majority had half an engine (top view) and a few had a complete engine.
I was definitely surprised and even more so, why do one one way while another a different way.. Same car in all..
Great, now I need to finish my GT-R lol thanks

That’s coming along beautifully!
Working on the body decals, pin wash on the panel lines, and starting to put the front end together. Everything has fit really well so far, no flashing and minimal injection marks.
Making progress, almost finished with the body, need to install the spoiler, tail lights and a couple more decals, under chassis is complete minus the wheels and tires. Working on the tire decals now, they are reverse printed decals and they are testing my patients, very fragile and backwards of what I’m used to.
Decal work looks good. I would have never know they were difficult.
Got the body finished up, glass is painted, working on the interior now which has been somewhat difficult but mostly do to me getting impatient and not letting the paint fully cure. Typically I have more than one project going on so that’s not an issue but I’m trying to get this completed before I gotta go back to work.
Alright so the side mirrors are two pieces, the mirror being separate. A few days ago a chromed the mirrors and yesterday set the mirrors in the frames, I used mod podge because I didn’t want the Tamiya to mess with the paint and didn’t want super glue to fog up anything. Today I went to glue the mirror assemblys in place on the body and in typical fashion I dropped one, the mirror popped out and it literally disappeared… Like literally disappeared, I looked for quite awhile. Pretty disappointed. Anyways I have a sheet of styrene so I cut a new one and chromed it so it will be a few more days till I can clear coat then install the windows then call it done. Did a mock up though without windows and I’m pretty happy with how this turned out so far.
Shot it with a clear coat today, set it on a table with a Tupperware container over it. Should be good to handle tomorrow to put the windows in and finish it.
What’s your go-to clear coat product?
Sometimes the back of the little part number plate on a chrome sprue of a kit can substitute a lost mirror part.
I see that the carpet monsters are now magicians… Hate when that happens!
Love how its looking!

Looking great. Really like this one - may add to my wish list!
I guess I don’t have a go to really, the last few I’ve done I used Mr hobby gloss premium topcoat, works good and drys fast. But it seems to be out of stock most places for quite awhile now. I have a few bottles of Tamiya x clear that honestly I’ve never tried. That being said I’m not into the super super wet glossy look, it’s just a bit much.
Alrighty, calling this one complete, I’m pretty happy with is although I managed to get fingerprints that I can’t get out unless I buff them out, I struggled with the glass and ended up getting a few marks on them as well, kinda a frustrating end….but I think it turned out pretty well.
That being said I painted the lower chassis and floorboards with gloss black because it was convenient, won’t be doing that again, although you can’t really see it it was a pain to touch up and I left finger prints all over because it was high gloss, definitely not worth the convenience. Also handling the body after the paint will be mandatory gloves only, for some reason I left more fingerprints on this thing than all my kits put together in my life, quite possibly just the color showing them more. Also I rushed near the end partly because I didn’t have another project started to keep me occupied while everything dried, and partly because I just need to learn to not touch things.
This was a fun kit, not overly difficult, fun to detail, I had to trim one part and the glass didn’t quite fit correctly.
Turned out nice! Really a great looking car especially in that livery. Well done.
