Tamiya Beaufighter 1/48 - FINISHED -

hi

build already done

now it’s time to paint, first preshading with black

started with the underside, Tamiya Sky as a basis

then sprayed some Sky+Flesh , Sky+Orange and Sky+Blue to bring some life in the underside

now Tamiya tape for masking the underside, then the first top color will be Brown

hope you like it sofar

Jan

Nicely done Jan! I really like the way you’ve broken up the mono-tone under side with some color. This is easily over done, but I think you’ve nailed it. Great work.!!

Jerry

Nice work Jan. The shading came out well.

Regards, Rick

Jan-

Nice job on a not-often-modelled plane. Keep the pics coming!

A nice subtle effect…good job!

next step

underside taped with Tamiya

sprayed Gunze Dark Earth first, then highlights with Dark Earth+Orange and Dark Earth+Flesh

Jan

Very nice shading! And thanks for posting your color mixes- good information to have, and the results speak for themselves.

Nice technique and executiojn on the bottom. looks great.

Thanks for sharing your techniques, it produces a nice appearance.

hi all

the Beaufighter now has its basic comouflage colors

the green has been done the same way like the brown, (first green only, then green-flesh and green-orange very diluted), masking was done with Blu Tack

the photo’s will show you the plane before weathering

next stepsss will be the panels lines and the weathering of the plane

hope you like it sofar

Jan-

I really like the job you are doing with this one! I am going to have to remember the flesh/orange trick, very convincing!

decals done now (before and after Future)

I used Sol and Set

in progress now of making the panel lines darker before starting with oil paints and Humbrol for the weathering

you will see that some lines are still to light, so these will have to be done again

Jan

Lookin’ real nice.

The build looks great. I think you should leave the panel lines as is… it’ll give a much more random, natural look to it, something you already did with the paint! Keep up the good work!

This is a stunning build, and I must agree with RadMax8 - I really like the randomness of the lines as they are. You are a master painter, I must say! The highlighting is superb! Thanks for sharing!

Jan-

Outstanding! I tried your “flesh” and “blue” trick yesterday on my FAA Corsair, worked a treat! Thanks for sharing the tip, and the exquisite phots of a beautiful airplane.

Very nicely executed, Jan! Beautiful Beaufighter!

Very nice Beaufighter, Jan. The panel lines and subtle fading look great!
