Tamiya AD-6/A-1 Skyraider

I recently returned to lurking so I figured I best post a build.

This is my “Able Dog” recently completed with aftermarket VA-145 markings for a 1958 fleet bird. I gave her a wash and light weathering for peace-time operations. I found out after the fact that Skyraiders actually had a Yankee ejection seat. Oh well, next time around I’ll pick one up. Fun build as is the case with most Tamiya kits.

(already straightened the pitot tube)

Holy Smokes, She’s Beautiful [:D] Also great Camera work +2

Very nice, GrenadierII! Nice clean build a cool markings. This is definately a kit I have to grab. THere is a slight seam on the leading edge of the wing, but otherwise its an outstanding build. Cockipt detail is very nicely done.

Needs a toilet on the right outboard pylon…[:D]

Great looking Spad [tup]. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, very nice job! [bow]

Nice Skyraider. I like those markings.

Very nice build! I likey a lot! Also great pics. Thanks for sharing…Harv

Thanks for the kind words!

Thats’ the pain with NMF on the leading edge - it shows all. I noticed once I took the photos.

Man, do I know the feeling. THe camera always shows the flaws I thought weren’t there!

Beautifull job on the A-6! Though i do prefer the Vietman era “Sandies” with all of that junk hanging off the bottom of the wings!

Soulcrusher

Marvelous!

That is a beautiful build of a great bird. some may say that the panel lines are too dark; not me, I like the contrast with the rest of the bird, makes it look nicer IMHO. Great job! Thanks for sharing…

Very nice work on the Spad. Unless they had just come out of the paint shop or wash rack, Skyraiders built up a lot of gunk in the panel lines and contrasted starkly with the gray or silver background.

Very nice!! I really like those markings. Where did you get them??

Jerry

Yeah, I was thinking if I built a Vietnam era A-1 I would would make it considerably grimy.

I picked up the Superscale sheet on Ebay. I think Sprue Bros. has em though. Those between war markings are pretty cool.

Thanks again!

Ray

Awesome. Its nice to see some different markings.

HI Thats a sweet looking Spad Great Job.
