This was my first time putting together a warbird since I was a kid so for me it had to be a Spitfire. Unfortunate timing means I’m posting it along side Foz’s amazing scratch built interior of the Mk Ia.
Models obviously look bigger when you’re young but I was a bit surprised at how small a 1/72 scale Spitfire really is.
The kit comes with options for square wing and TROP versions but I went with the classic look I remember. The markings are for No. 243 Squadron s/n EN821. Googling didn’t turn up much about it.
I used FSM’s tutorial video on sludge washes to try and dirty it up but I think I may have over done it and should have scrubbed a bit harder in some areas. Also, it’s not really noticeable looking at it live but from the photos I can see I used far too much white glue on the canopy.

Looks real nice. There will always be something we wish we did better.
I like it! The washes look good, don’t look overdone to me. Maybe just run some chalk dust or powder on the wheels to make them look consistent with the wash.

I’ve got some dollar store pastels lying around that I’ll try to lighten / blend the tires with.
The camo scheme was done by masking. I used the kit paint instructions for reference but it’s not traced curve for curve, just eye balled for basic shape and size. The mask was made of lots of short strips of tape with random curves cut out of them that were arranged through a bit of trial and error to avoid sharp angles. Definately not the most efficient method but it was kind of relaxing and I got into a grove doing it while watching you tube videos.
Your efforts paid off, again, looks great.
