Tamiya 1/72 P-47D-15

What a great kit, nothing but fun. I robbed some P-38 tanks from my Airfix F-80 scrap heap, and a 75 gallon tank from an Academy P-51D kit. The kit has only bazooka tubes and paper tanks, but the paper tanks were not used in the Pacific. This scheme is for the 69th Fighter Squadron which operated in New Guinea and the Philippines. Lots of gas because range was always a problem for the P-47 in the Pacific.

I could have weathered it more but in 1/72 it’s so easy to overdo it, and what I did do is hard to see in the scale.

Nice work, John.

Great Work John, Nice clean build. I have that kit as well. It’s so beautiful in the box I almost don’t want to start building it :stuck_out_tongue: . I have the Rising Decals Corsica sheet which has a bunch of great schemes that I will probably use when I eventually build mine.

beautiful job on the P-47!!

Very nice John. I just got my 1/48 razorback for Christmas and trying to figure out which markings to do. Thats an interesting scheme you did.

Thanks, everyone, your comments are all much appreciated.

I’m working on a 1/72 Hasegawa P-38 that dates way back to 1977, though it is nice in its own way. Modeling whiplash!

Excellent

Excellent! Cool scheme – particularly the yellow trim on the canopy frame. Congrats.

Thanks, John and Hoss.
