If anyone built some, how did you hang them from the ‘stays’? Did you just glue them on, or build something to the backside to hang them from?

Any pitfalls in this? Thanks in advance.

Ok…I built some of the sideskirts. They hid a lot, so I only put a few of them on. The only difficult part I had was seeing through the ten-though plastic sheet to see where to glue the hangars. I had one off centre, but it didn’t really effect much in the end.

Comments are welcome. Remember, this is only my second armour model.

Lining up the hangers can be challenging alright.I like the way it turned out. he squiggly camo really sets it off. I always liked the missing panels on these. nice effect.

You can actually leave the skirts off if you want to. It’s very very common see late model Pz IV tanks with just the turret skirts.

Bad news about the Tamiya Panzer IVJ – it’s an early model J, so it needs to have zimmerit. [:(] This is a fact that ticks me off! I wish they had provided some late-model exhaust and the other things that allow you to leave the durned zimm off.

Thanks Larry, I didn’t know that. I simply didn’t do any serious homework on this model. I got lost in its ease of construction…

… Have you seen the new PE set from Voyager Models? Complete zim for this vehicle ! Pics show it to be scaled properly… beautiful rendition; in my opinion…

PE zimm? Never liked the stuff in 35th – looks very fakey. Does it look better for 48th? PE zimm looks pretty good in 72nd.

EDIT: just looked at an image of it and the zimm looks pretty good, though the zimm on the turret skirts did not attach properly in the sample model on the site I was looking at, which IMO looks horrible.

Does this PE set come with the side schurzen?

For your second armor model, you sure did a fantastic job with the paint. It is time to add some wear and mud/dust to it.

Larry, check message #286 in the Heavy-Steel site. Frank has multiple images of the Voyager zim, and it looks very nice… in my opinion. Also, have you seen the new Thoma skirts from Hauler ?

Yes, it does come with plain, un Zimmerited hull schurtzen and brackets to hang them from the kit rails plus a number of other items. There are covers for the side air vents, the spair wheel rack, latches for the hatches and an AA m/g mount. All in all, quite a usefull set.
