I have been studying all my references and I’m stumped. I want to build the color scheme " B ", which calls for a topside color that is probably the Extra Dark Sea Grey ( translate Testors MM Gunship Gray FS 36118 ). Now according to the Osprey Modelling Book on the Mossy it calls for the undersurface to be Sky " Type S " on this paint scheme. However Tamiya has some goofy tan color listed for the underside. Should I go with the authorized Sky for the undersurface or try to cross over the XF-55 Deck Tan to some Testors color and use it? My gut tells me the Sky should be correct. It won’t be the first time Tamiya goofed up. The R.A.F. Tilley is Blue according to them but they were never painted that color. Some guy restored one and painted it blue and Tamiya decidied to go with it. Anyhow, I’m going to the Local Hobby shop soon so please feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks much… Bob
I’m not a Mossie expert but Deck Tan would certainly be wrong, and not a close match at all. Sky would be my guess.
Coastal Command scheme is EDSG over Sky.
Thanks much guys. When I build it I’m goig to do the Extra Dark Sea Grey on top ad the Sky Type S on the bottom. Bob
