Tamiya 1/48 Flakpanzer Wirbelwind - Zimmerit????

Hi guys,

As some of you will have seen from my Birthday thread yesterday one of the kit’s that my folks got me was the Tamiya Wirbelwind. In some pictures it is shown with zim, in some without.

The kit doesn’t come pre-moulded with a zim finish and I don’t have a zimmerit kit yet and my LHS don’t keep them on the shelf-special order only.

Can I go ahead and build my Flakpanzer without Zim-looking at pictures I’m sure they didn’t all have a Zimmerit coat applied?

Not all Wirbelwind’s had zim…the presence of zim was due to whether or not it was built on a reconditioned hull or not. The choice is yours! [;)]

I’ve been reading a few books for the last hour and, like you say, it say’s it all depends on the Panzer hull used.

I’ve been out and bought some deck tan to mix 1:1 with the yellow as advised by Phil H. It looks like a far better colour now.
