Tamiya 1/48 F4U1A wing supports

Hello;

I just started this great kit and looking through the instuctions they show for the folded wings there are supports going from fuselage to wing. Is this authentic or is this just Tamiyas way of keeping the wings from breaking. I need to search for some pictures online so maybe I will see this in use but something tells me I wont but could be wrong.

Answer to your question here, with a picture showing where they attach to the fuselage.

Absolutely authentic. And like most pieces of equipment that needed to be seen by ground crews, the supports are bright red.

I built mine as one wing up, one down, just to show the different configurations

Thanks guys I figured Tamiya would have something in the kit that was not real.
