Started this last Saturday morning, just finished it up Saturday night. Built it strictly OOB with decal seat harness and Cutting Edge decals. Represents “Black 8” from an unknown Squadron , which participated in both Operation Torch and the Guadalcanal campaign.Maybe someone knows which squadron it was attached to? Anyways, enjoy!

Seriously though, great job on the build, especially on the weathering. I’ve wanted to do a Wildcat with Operation Torch markings too. I’d also be interested in finding out which squadron yours was attached to.

Mate, that is one nice little model. Unbelievably fast as well, considering the quality of finish you have achieved. In that time I have only managed about 8 decals on my P-47. It’s embarrassing really. Madda, you’re right, I think the Widcat makes up for it’s ungainliness with it’s straight up spunk, sorta like a little bulldog that just won’t let go!

Snowy, those TBolts have more stencils than I’ve ever seen…took me 2 full days to decal my last one (I hate decaling!).Crossracer, all paints are Model Masters acrylics. The upper surface is US Navy Bluegrey, and the lower surfaces Light Grey (except the undercaraige, which is white). You gotta love the Wildcat for it’s sheer tenacity, not to mention that of it’s pilots…one of my alltime favorite A/C!
I think it is on the Suwanee CVE-27. Here is the closest I could come w/o a lot more work …
