Been wanting to try something a little unique so I decided to pick up an m113 kit and am planning on modeling it after the Danish peacekeeper units deployed to Bosnia.
As with any Tamiya kit, it is coming together pretty easily.

This should be a nice quick project for you. It looks like the build portion is nearly done.
The UN livery should be cool
There is not really much to this kit… all the hatches open so this would be a good kit to put an am interior and engine in. Probably will end up doing that in a future build.
Looking good so far.
Very cool!
They are neat little kits although they have been derided ever since Academy released one. I have several of the Tamiya ones, the older version and the M113A2/A3. I like them.
The rest of the assembly is complete and is now ready for paint as soon as the weather turns decent again. I ended up drilling a hole in the side of the hull and putting some wire in it to help give the vinyl tracks some sag.
Here is a comparison shot of the tracks with and without the wire.
Nice work on the sag. With those tracks it’s either glue the top run to the road wheels or use a wire like you did.
Looking good.
I really am liking the look of the white and with black lettering. The white is going to make it harder not to overdo the weathering.
Neat! Kind looks like a good target though…
Hello!
That’s an interesting take on it… How about that round ACAV shield on the commander’s hatch? Are you sure it should be there?
Good luck with your build and have a nice day

RBaer: The crew’s light blue helmets are an even easier target.
Pawel: I did go through reference material before deciding which commander hatch to go with. I found m113s from bosnia with and without the ACAV shield.
I like the white with black lettering look as well. Very sharp contrast and interesting to look at.
Great job, never tried to do a white AFV (other than whitewash).
I think the white is like a hunter wearing blaze orange- it’s shorthand for ‘DON’T SHOOT ME’.
The White UN stuff pretty much is exactly that. Of course the warring factions have to respect those rules, and the forces deployed have some sort of back up and the folks in charge willing to use that back up rapidly if need be. If they dilly dally and deliberate, thats one reason those ops can go sideways in a real hurry.
Nice work on the white.
Finally done with weathering and also got the figures painted. Decided to go for a muddy early spring look on the m113.
All that is left is painting the tools and stowage.
Hmmm, I’m not seeing your photos- just getting a Postimage: ‘image not found or was removed’ error message.
