Pretty much built the entire kit in a day hanging with some model buddies on Saturday for a build day. Added the extra texture ala Modeling Insanity TV heading into primer now…
@Jeeves, congratulations on the applied texture.
Did you use putty diluted with glue or with acetone?
looks like you had a very successful day.
Neither…its just Mr. Surfacer 500 dabbed on with a stiff brush over all the cast textured surfaces. I later went through with a sanding stick and lightly sanded the texture down a bit.
I’ve got one of these in the half-built pile. Yours is looking pretty good so far. Are you replacing the fenders with P/E or are you planning to do something similar to the captured KV in Essen?
It sure makes it look blocky without the fenders.
Fenders haven’t been added yet as I’ve had to fill the ejection marks underneath with more Mr. Surfacer 500. I’ll paint up the 4BO first to the lower hull, then add the link and length tracks and then fenders.
Trying to enjoy the last few days of summer break before heading back to school on Tuesday. Life is better on the porch…as I near completion of the Tamiya KV-2. There’s not much for markings so I’ll just add some light weathering and not overcomplicate things for once.
That’s turning out really nice!
I like the KV build and the view of your studio. Noice!
Looks like a nice clean build
Thanks guys!
Temporary studio to be sure…once frost hits, its back into the garage with me.
Tony…it’ll have some weathering…just trying to decide how much.
