Tamiya 1/35 German Hanomag sdkfz 251/1 questions/help

On my 251/1, I glued on piece B23 before any of the shafts, and now none of them will go in. Any tips on removing the part? Will it cause problems if I glue in the shafts? I don’t like moveable wheels. And lastly, is the steering wheel really the only part on the model that isn’t painted German Grey? I like the Grey color scheme, it just looks too bland on this model.

Any and all help is appreciated!

I am assuming you are doing the old Ausf C kit. The seats are leather, as are the seat backs. Aaprt from that and the rubber on the wheels, it is mostly grey.

If you prize the seam apart with the tip of a sharp modelling knife, you should be able to remove the part, clean up the seam, and resume construction as per the instructions.

As far as colour scheme is concerned, first, remember that the kit is so inaccurate that you could paint it any colour you like. You wouldn’t be compromising scale accuracy much if you painted it pink with green spots! Do a Google Image Search on Sd,Kfz.251/1 and you’ll find lots of ideas. If you want to stick with German Grey, try base-coating the model in black, and then spraying it with first Panzer/ German Grey, and then increasingly lighter shades of grey, concentrating towards the centres of panels, until you get an effect you like.

Overall Panzergrau doesn’t have to be boring!

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks a lot guys! I have an idea fo rthe shafts- I could just cut the part that doesn’t fit, you don’t even see it anyway. Sorry I don’t have pictures, this would be a lot less confusing if I did.
