Tamiya 1/35 British Mk. IV Male

I’ve had this kit on the shelf since last December working on it off and on. I’ve been in a model building slump for most of the year until fairly recently. I’ve been working on finishing up kits that are near completion and this Tamiya kit was one of them.

The kit is built OBB other then Tamiya tape around the exhaust pipe replicating the asbestos that was wrapped around the exhaust pipe on the real thing. The kit was weathered with a lot of different enamel washes. I’m sure I spent ten or so hours on weathering alone.

Markings are from the kit for tank H45 from H Battalion, near Ribecourt, France, November 1917.

Hi,

Your build looks great. [:)]

Looks good. Those early tanks were behemoths bristling with guns.

Looking very sharp GS! The tape on the exhaust pipe to simulate the asbestos wrap was a great touch. I’m surprised that Tamiya missed that detail, as it is rather noticeable.

Looks great, one of my want lists is the motorized version of this tank.

Makes me wonder if it was on the museum example they modeled from; or if they just went off the plans, which might have skipped the cladding.

Looks great!!!

The weathering looks spot-on! Considering how much time they spent wallowing though mud and shell craters in No Man’s Land it’s pretty important!

Thank you, PFJN2.

keavdog thanks!

Thank you, Stik. Regarding the asbestos the wrapping was done in the field from what I’ve found and not all of the tanks had it done. I believe Tamiya used the Tank Museum Mk. IV which doesn’t have any wrapping on the exhaust pipe.

Thank you, Gamera. I was planning to add a lot more mud but was happy with how the model was looking halfway through weathering.
