Tamiya 1/32 F4U-1A completed

Finally completed this wonderful kit. Finding the time to work on it regularly has been a challenge due to lack of enough free time from work so it took me longer than expected to complete but I really enjoyed every single moment.
Any feedback and criticism will be more than welcome..

Simply stunning build of an awesome kit. I like how authentic your blue color choices look – that’s often a stumbling block on USN aircraft. Great balanced weathering too!

Thanks a lot… I usually try to balance the weathering on the upper surfaces…. the wing undersurfaces are much more weathered….

Nicely done. I have been thinking of Baa Baa Blacksheep and Pappy Boyington. Gonna have to try one of those. Very very nice.

Absolutely incredible build! I have the same model in my stash…

Great painting and weathering

You knocked it out of the park. Great job all around.

I built the Tamiya birdcage Corsair in this scale a few years back, decided that I loved building that one so much that I picked up the 1A so I could experience this one all over again.

Same here… I have loved building this one so much that I have bought a 1D for my stash.. will be the next one after the Tamiya 1/48 F16 CJ that I am starting right now…

I’m in the process of building this kit but still have a ways to go. Hopefully I will be able to maybe approach your excellent detailing.
My plan is to do a VF-17 plane even though they never flew combat missions off of a carrier but they did use carriers for refueling.
My hope is to do a diorama of one on a carrier deck that sustained damage during their operation and needed to be towed off the deck with its cowling removed. I did quite a bit of detailing on the R-2800 so I want to be able to show it off. It will be towed by a Navy jeep with the cowling in the back of the jeep.

That is one sharp looking build! Congrats

Well done my friend! I am really liking the over finish especially with the weathering!
By the looks of it, the demarcation lines between the colors are very nice too.. Let me guess, you airbrushed and did the soft edges fre handed?
Thank you for sharing!
Happy Modeling,
Mike

I airbrushed the separation lines between the three colors using very low pressure, high thin ratio and spraying very very close…

I love your attention to detail, especially noticed in the weathering! Very inspiring for sure.
