Wow! Really nice detail and painting throughout. That will be one big bird once finished I imagine. Are you using any AM or is all that detail in the kit?
Wow, looking fantastic thus far. Keep up the fine work!
Hi folks,
Some progress with this very slow project… ![]()

20mm Hispanos fitted to the fuselage:

Your attention to detail is jaw dropping!!! Looking forward to the next update.
That thing is huge! Looks awesome so far!
Super nice ! Happy to see operation Jericho getting some luv.
I mistakenly got the wrong mosquito variant a few years back, so I’ll have to get the ‘correct’ one someday, but, funny thing, I should be moving to Amiens, my hometown, in a couple months time, where I will finally have enough room and plan on tackling a … 1/32 mosquito myself! My whole family is from there, and my dearly departed grandfather witnessed operation Jericho when he was but a lad. He had other stories, some of which I would very much like to turn into a short movie someday, as their authenticity has, sadly, never been proven - only hinted at in local newspapers from those times.
Are you going to build group captain Charles Pickard plane ? Bittersweet misc fact : Picardie denizens are commonly called “the Picards”, making GC Charles Pickard demise place pretty fitting.
Just amazing work. I love those Hispanos!
Excellent work on your Mossie. I have this kit in my stash, probably only because it’s a Tamiya. I built the Airfix 1/24 kit several years ago - a huge kit that now hangs on a wall because that’s the only place I had for it. And building it very nearly caused me to leave this hobby.
The Brits sure could produce some gorgeous aircraft, of which the Mosquito is one. As opposed to something like the Barracuda, which only a mom could love.
Haha, tell me about it! I started it in May last year and it is really a test of my patience and perseverence.
But it is worth every minute of it. Amazing kit!
How was the Airfix one?
Hi DrKoin,
Yes, I will be doing Pickard’s bird.
Best,
Nikola
The Airfix kit builds up very nicely, but to get to that point one must endure a trip to Hades and back. It starts with the fact that the Mosquito was a large aircraft, and then it’s in 24th scale (this thing is just about as big as the 1/72 B-36 Peacemaker kit) and is loaded with details. I don’t recall how many sprues are in that giant box, but it was a substantial number of them. I normally can build even a detailed kit in a month or so, but that one took me 3 months. The engines alone probably took me a couple of weeks to finish.
Suffice it to say that I won’t be building another Aifix 24th scale Mosquito.
I hear you man - to Hades and back. ![]()
This is 963 parts (including PE) plus AM and some scratch building. AI says that Airfix 1/24 has 617. Both are just packed.
Definitely tour de force builds.
Best,
Nikola
The details on your Mosquito are quite striking! Well done!
Hi folks,
A few more steps done. Like for the Hispanos, I used resin feeder chutes for the Brownings as well.

Never thought I’d call a machinegun feed chute beautiful, but here we are. They’re lovely. ![]()
Camo done:

Looking fantastic. Those guns and bomb bay look great.
Gloss coat on and ready for decals and washes:
