Tam Tiger i (181) or T55

The shop i use has very limited military vehicle choice.

I have no preferance of era etc,i just fancied something larger than what i have been doing,i am a novice and so far done a T34 and pz iii`s.

All i could choose from was a tamiya Tiger i (35126) and a tamiya T55.

I think i read here somewhere that the early tam tiger i`s are dated and better ones are available.I do not know if this kit is to be avoided.I did see it had vynal trackss. It was cheaper than the T55 though.

Is the T55 a better kit to go for?

Tamiya T-55 is one of their best modern tank kits.

I think the Tiger to which you are referring is kit #35216. The 35126 is for Tamiya’s Sgt. York kit.

I along with Espins have built that Tiger kit for the Kursk Group Build last fall. You’d be surprised what a nice kit it is. Sure it isn’t as accurate as a recently released DML kit, but out of the box it is a decent representation of an early Tiger.

Espins’ magnificent completed build can be found here: /forums/87/788102/ShowPost.aspx#788102

Mine’s not so good, but it is posted somewhere in that giant thread. It’s still incomplete, as I’m waiting for warm weather to paint the camo on it. [:-^]

I’ll second the T-55!
