Takom 1/16 scale Jeep (they won't say it, but I will)

This is a delightful kit. Easy build, great detail, especially the engine (if you’re into that kind of thing). Some really brilliant engineering here. A few inconsistent details, but nothing worth sweating about. Finished in Testor’s Olive Drab from a rattle can, and old-school weathering. The figure is from the kit, and it’s really nice. I added a tape armband and some detail to the helmet. It’s finished in enamels as primer colors, and artist oil colors. The Thompson on the seat is from one of the Classy Hobby tank crew figure kits. The rope on the bumper (not sure what it’s for, but I like the look) is some old pull-cord string I had lying about–proof it pays to not throw anything away. This one was just fun from beginning to end. This, to me, is the best use of 1/16 scale: Small subjects that are just too tiny in 1/35 scale to appreciate their details and character.

Great job! Especially on the MP!

Nice job! Possibly the rope on the bumper is for pulling it out when stuck or like a soft bumper?

Frickin’ slam dunked that one Mark!

Weathering on the wheels and tires puts the cherry on top of an already amazing build buddy. WOW!!

That’s soooo awesome. The MP’s expression is just great too. Just a hit of: “Same $#!@, different day.”

I second Mustang’s comment that the tires are perfect as well. Is that a pigment effect? Same for the worn steel of the shovel! So much to love here. Thanks for sharing it.

I’ve discovered the best color (for me, anyway) to paint tires is Panzer Grey. Naturally it only works with green or dark yellow vehicles. Then, after the paint had set, I spread Vallejo “Thick Mud” acrylic paste into the tread, then wiped off the excess, leaving the tread pattern dark and the “mud” in the recesses.
The steel highlighting is silver enamel mixed with a touch of Raw Umber artist oil color. You can vary the intensity of the shine. It takes a little practice but the effect is worth the effort.

Holy smokes… you freaking crushed that build, and the paint work and weathering are fantastic!! The figure is straight up perfect in my humble opinion. Well done Sir :ok_hand:t3:
