Taking the Trash Out ?

A friend took there photos in NC sometime this year, and I thought I would post them.

It’s not everyday you see something like this driving down the road…

Have a GREAT day all

Bud

Looks like an old A6 Intruder? Wonder what they’re going to do with it.

Let’s pray its on its way to restoration/a museum, not cut up or dumped into the sea like the rest.

Now, there’s a diorama possibility… Any scratchbuilders fancy having a go at that?

It’s actually two A-6s, unless the aircraft in the 1st pic had a few panels spontaneously reattach themselves and some other damage magically repaired between the 1st pic and the 2nd and 3rd.

I have to, respectfully, disagree. I have looked the pictures over a numerous times and they definately are the same a/c.

i would have to agree it is two differant aircraft because not only the panels and the damage but the making ,panels can be taken off and put on and damage obscured by error of parallax but marking cant change

It looks like its being towed by a Utility Truck, a Ford F250 or something ? Doesnt look D.O.D. is what I’m getting at. Can you just buy stuff like this in the states ? I know about the airplane graveyards over there, but you just can’t buy stuff ? Or Can you ? I wonder if this will end up restored in someones garage or backyard ?

Now that would be a COOL thing to do

Bud

Sacrilege!![V] just horrible. That needs to be treated with more respect. Although out dated, it was still very gracefull in it’s own way. And yes, I too hope it’s on it’s way to a museum for restoration.

Sad , [:(]

maybe the mythbusters is trying to bust a myth[BG] i hpe it goes to a better home

With the retirement of the type, I can’t imagine there is a shortage of nice intact A-6’s for museums. Once a plane gets that stripped out, its scrap, basically. With the A-6’s parked out at AMARC, I can’t see anyone needing to restore one that far gone. But I may be wrong

Wow! Even if it is to be “brought back to glory”, I pity the poor bastards that get to tear it down. They’d probably find more spiders, corrosion, and other nasties than original parts!

By now this bird is probably long gone …[sigh]

Can the general public get their hands on something like that? I think it would be really cool to have an A6 up on a stand in my front yard. [:-^]

It looks like the stub spars have been sawed through – rendering it pretty much in the junk / cockpit display arena.

Good idea espins … but there’s always those pisky neighbors … complain , complain [sigh]

i would hate to be the guys told to scrap an aircraft such as that. i could not bring myself to do it

Yea I think it would be cool to have an F4U Corsair in my front yard…[:D]
