Definately got some skills there fella. The german officer at the start is great. Who made it? Dont know if its my monitor but the green of the trousers looks a little…Green. Love the face though. Great work.
Great work youve done there, Skin shading is excellent, My only comment is lord Nelson looks truly petrafied .I think this is due to seing to much of the whites of the eyes, the whites should be an of white aswell .Thats only my opinion but the most part is excellent.
Definitely a good start. Agree withteh previous poster, Nelson’s eyes are too wide open. The in progress head’s eyes are uneven. Trick to get the eyes right. Use pale flesh for the whites. Use brown or blue for the eiris. As you paint the eyes, look at he face in a mirror. I don’t know whiy or how this works, but you’ll be able to tell if the eyes are properly aligned better than if you look directly at the face.
Sounds weird and looks weirder but look in a mirror while making the facial expression of the figure you are modeling. Look at your eyes, and your mouth and take note. Have some understanding soul photograph you like that! Try to duplicate that look in paint. Sounds easier that it is but hey what better reference than a REAL person? The USMC 1945 fig looks A LOT like me at 19, minus glasses, LOL. I dug up old photos of myself back then and had at it.
I was referring to one of my previous posts LOL. While I’m old I’m not quite old enough to have been at Iwo. AND for the record My mother was a jew of German descent who’s family came to the US in the mid to late 1800’s. The members that stayed in Europe suffered greatly and we just recently were able to unearth records of family long since lost.
Dad on the other hand was Scotch/Irish from the Ohio/Kentucky border area.
It’s no wonder we children grew up dazed and confused!!
One of the tricks I’ve learned about painting eyes: the pupil always hangs from the upper lid. Don’t know if that’s true in reality (whatever that is [:D] ) but it always looks right on figures.
I especially like the german officer. Lots of expression. Good skin colors.
LOL…my ma tells me, ‘I wasnt born, i was hatched’ on a side note, my Dads dad was a concentration camp victim. He had a tatooed number on his arm. Never spoke about it, ever.
Yeah, my grandmother and her mother ventured back to the old country around 1908 or so. Grandma was 10 and the sole purpose was to convince relatives to return to the US with them. Uncle Roman did return, hated New York, hated Dayton, tolerated St. Louis for several years then moved to LA. Got upset with things there and moved to Hawaii. December 7, 1941 he saw his gazebo burned down, most likely by falling debris. Never will forget him lamenting that he moved halfway across the world to escape persecution only to have the second world war start in HIS backyard! LOL
Grandma took mom to Europe around 1936, barely getting back before all h&(( broke loose. Mom was eleven then and NEVER again commented on politics or religion.
