Tail Fillet for P47 1/48 scale

Hello all,

Does anyone know where I can purchase an aftermarket tail fillet for a P47 Thunderbolt. I am trying to convert some of the kits I have to models with the fillet. I have built one with help by Mr. Boyer who advised that I cut a piece of plastic to fit between the tail section and the fuselage. That worked pretty good but doesn’t look like the fillet that comes with the Hasegawa kit. Any ideas on how to improve what I have already done. Thanks for all and have a good day.

I dont know of any aftermarket fillets. I suggest two thin pieces of sheet plastic cut in the appropriate shape and bevelled on the inner edges where they will meet the tail and on top where they will join. Do you have the Hasegawa kit that has the fillet? If so, that makes a great reference.

I work on P-47M from Tamiya. It has some additional pieces to convert it to other versions like D-25

If you need something other than M than just drop me a PM

In 1/48th, there’s an English resin company that released the fin fillet piece when Tamiya released the initial batches of their bubbletop Thunderbolt kit. I believe the part was about 10 bucks US. Sorry that I can’t recall the company at present. I’ll check my files.

Medallion Models made a conversion for the Monogram kit. It has two fillets and two metal paddle blade props. I couldn’t find them in a web search, and on ebay, I only came up with a Hellcat cockpit.

Thanks for the info, I will try what you are talking about, it should work pretty good. Using the one I have now will make a good reference. Thanks again for the info.

Greg, thanks for the info, I will be looking forward to seeing your M model when you complete it. Have a good one.

Thanks for the info, I think I’ll try my hand at some “make my own stuff” I’m sure I can come up with something. A little patience on my part will most likely come out with something good. Thanks again.

Hey Wayne, thanks for the info, I’ll try to make something on my own that will look somewhat good. I have time and patience believe me. Thanks again for all, have a good day.
