I’ve seen it before, but it’s very cool. Imagine they fired up engine shortly after. Crazy Russian tanks.

what a great story to tell at a pub. “OH YEAH? Well i found an army tank. in a pond!”

The peat has really protected the tank over the intervening years. Interesting just how dark the green is, though I am sure that green would lighten slightly as the T-34 dried out.

Fantastic find.

cheers

Mike

If you look closely you can see a slogan on the left hand side of the turret, faded but there, kinda neat that it’s still there with a balkencruez on top of it! Wow, incredible!

If I were still working at my last job I could have a guy there translate it for everyone as he’s from Russia. Anyone else here speak Russian and read it well enough to decipher what it might say? It could be very interesting to do some research. Those Estonians are pretty inteligent and ingenuitive people. It’s good they are finally building a good strong economic society, with all the modern trimmings.

That is a great story. What an amazing find. I can’t believe the condition it is in. I would so loved to have been standing on the bank watching that T-34 emerge from its grave. What a rare find!

Thanks for posting that Armour_freek. It may be ‘old news’ but it is news for me.

Boomer…

there is something special about vehicles that have been recovered. Hard to imagine that its been sitting in that river for 60 years, I bet that tank would have some stories to tell
