I started a couple of new projects over the weekend that are quite a bit different from my usual models. One of them is the 72nd Hasegawa T-38A Talon jet trainer. It is actually an F-5B and as such requires some fairly serious modifications. The engine air intakes need a bunch of reshaping, the wing LE slats and LEXs need to be removed and exhausts will be a little different.

The parts. the intakes have been reshaped, the slats filled in and LEXs removed.

I’ve got one of these old kits and I’m planning on doing the same thing at some point. I’m looking forward to your progress on it, maybe it will inspire me to get mine done!
I’ve got some Aeroclub seats to use. Other than that, I don’t think there is much else for this kit out there… What are you going to be using for decals?

I’d like to do a T-38 but i’m waiting for the new ones. AFV and another company are coming out with new tool kits.
I’d like to see this build though. Can’t wait to see more.
I have the instructions but I can’t find the kit. This should be good to watch.
I am not sure yet, probably a combination of kit decals and stuff from the spares box.
Update: 09-23-11
The triangular fairing in front of the canopy under construction. It still needs to be a little larger and then blended into the rest of the nose.

The lower, aft section of the fuselage was a very poor fit. I removed the molded on horizontal stabs and will fill in the gap at the seam.
