I have been looking into making a T-34 Flakpanzer and have a few questions. I have found a couple of model pics on the net, one Maquette and one Tamyia with a Maquette turret. In comparing the turrets to the photos on Beutepanzer it seems that the bolt pattern on the side is not correct and the top shield is removed from the Flakvierling. I understand that there is no info on the inside of the turret and that all we have to go in is the ¾ photo. From looking at it, it would appear that the gunner’s seat is much lower than the Maquette. Which would mean that the Flakvierling would have been mounted lower into the T-34 rather than sitting on top of the hull. Sort of like the Wirbelwind. Any clue as to what the mount in the hull would look like? Also the bolt spacing for the side shields match the frame on the Flakvierling which might mean that they just extended the frame. Which brings up another question. Could the bullet shields on the hull mean that the bottom of the turret was open?
There are other photos of this vehicle, albeit not very good ones.

There are 4 photos, plus a color plate of this beast in The Combat History of sPzJgAbt. 653.
Not much info on it though…
Thanks for the response Kykeon. That is the pic I was talking about. If you zoom in you can see that the base for the seat back looks to be about maybe 8" off the engine deck. Also it doesn’t appear that there is a floor that extends out like on the Maquette. It also looks like there might be a circular base behind his foot.
If there were a floor like the Maquette model would the traversing gear and gunner have been able to handle the extra weight? I’m guessing that it was made from the .57" thick plating from the 251 (someplace specifically mentioned the 251 as being the donor).
I may just have to try some things and take a pic and compare it to the photo. Where is the CSI stuff that can blow up and zoom in on a gnat’s hair? lol.
Here’s a merged pic of the WIP and the real deal. If there is a problem with the using part of the orginal photo, then please delete.

Looks to be very close… maybe a hair too low when comparing the notch on the main frame of the Flak38. Tape holding the right side guns in place and figure from the junk box just for scale.
