Marc,
Mmmmmmm, two flavors that go great together! White wash and mud. That is a very well done T-34. Is this one of DML’s offerings? How did you do the white wash? What did you use for mud? Are the lenses MV? I like the sag you’ve put into the tracks. Are the tracks stock? Fruil? Other?
This one has gotten my interest up in finally starting a T34. Several in the stash but none built.
Cheers
Dave
Wow Marc that looks freaking awesome. I agree with Dave, good combo with the white wash and mud. I hope to see this model in person next year. Awesome job on this model.[t$t]
Rob
Real nice job Marc, whitewash looks great, right amount of mud,and red lettering gives some color.
Awesome!
I’m going to have to go check out the thread now.
Excellent Build Marc [Y]. I’ve yet to try winter camo, but if it comes close to your presentation I’ll be thrilled.
Regards, Rick
Wow, that looks amazing. The whitewash looks ecspecially good.
David
Wow!
Lets give 'm a hand lads!
What a wonderful finish Marc. The weathering is totally appropriate and realistic. It “TOTALLY” pleases me to the MAX. The kind of stuff I like to see. Maybe a few tiny specs of mud on those shiny headlight lens, eh?
Looks to be on the muddy Russian road to glory.
In an effort to be helpful; the only nic I can pic is the amount of track sag in front of the lower port front wheel in the first picture as compared to the (second picture) starboard side.
Then again, I guess that could be an issue of what direction it had just turned… otherwise those tracks are supercool.
GREAT WORK.
Beautifully finished! Love the mud and the worn white wash. I especially like the gradually ‘dirt build up’ from the top - down to the muddy bottom and rear. A very convincing weather job indeed.
Great way to end the year - Happy new year everyone.
WOW thanks so much guys. Wasn’t sure about the weathering since is the most extreme I’ve done yet. I was all caught up in it and I was pleased but was by no means looking at it objectively. Thanks again.
Dave - OMG so many questions [:D] Let’s see… in oprder… It is the DML kit. The white wash is done with the hair spray technique. the main difference being the white coat is enamel, not acrylic. This takes more work getting off to have greater control of where and how it comes off. The mud is a mix plaster, MIG Russian Earth pigment, sifted dirt and white glue. The headlight lenses are vacuformed form the kit pieces with scratched reflectors behind. The tracks are Friuls.
DM - The tracks really gave me fits. 1st off this set of Friuls is by far the most difficult I have used yet. A fair amount of clean up and drilling and since they are so thin, they bent out of alignment just by looking at them. They were either too long or too short. If I took out 2 links there was no sag at all. I had to cut off the idlers to readjust to get some of the slack taken up. It does not show up n the pics but there is some mud splatter on the headlights.
Wow and double Wow, Marc that is one killer finish, has to be some of the best mud and white wash finishes I’ve ever seen.
Happy New Year.
Terry.
Oh WoW,wait just a minute while I go get my glasses off the bench.[8-|]
Well looky looky, that is a killer model Wingy[Y] That is really a great representation of a muddy winter Russian tank in my opinion.[t$t]
Thanks for bring it to the front Tony Lee
Now THIS guy looks like a ‘winter warrior’! Outstanding job Marc.[Y][Y]
Nate
The weathering with the mud and the white wash are just excellent. Very, very, good work on this one.
Thanks guys glad you like it.
Mike, I am glad you stopped by for a look after our conversation in Techniques.
Holy crap, last time I checked over there you were just getting ready for paint. Boy, either I’ve lost track of time or you’re just that darn fast. Beautiful build by the way!! Top notch stuff, the weathering, whitewash,…etc.[:D[
Good one…I like it…![]()
Nice, real nice!
Just outstanding. It looks like the real thing.
Nice VERY nice, Nut. I really like these babies looking realisticly filthed-up. The showroom looking models don’t even keep me awake. This one’s tuff, and sleek in it’s grusome way-ALL BUSINESS.’
You know all that MUD screems “Put me in a Dio ! Or at least on a matched muddy base!” Any thoughts on that???
