The model building aspect of volume three is now complete. Here are a couple shots of the completed subject - the video covers everything about the conversion process and using vacuformed pieces. It covers everything about using Alclad paints and getting nice effects plus basic painting philosophy as covered in “The Secret Life of Alclad II”. It covers some scratch building as a few of the kit parts that were intended to be used on the conversion fuselage didn’t want to cooperate. It also covers three basic diorama like display bases including the one pictured here. It covers basics of model photography and forced perspective shooting. We have two ‘on location’ shoots to do then have to add the musical score and do about 4 weeks of editing. Once all that is done it’s off to production.
That is an Academy 1/48 P-47D with Koster XP-72 conversion set plus additional cockpit resin and PE work.
Most excellent! Never seen one of those in a 1/48 model. Never thought I would. I am a big fan of the dog and Nose art! What kinda music goes with the XP-72? Hmmmm ! Great stuff Swanny! I hope to do 1/2 as well with my builds!
Well Jazz of course.
Matt- I love planes with contra rotating props, they just look mean! Well done, a scarce subject to boot. So, what’s next on your bench? Inquiring minds wanna know. [;)]
Very nice work on the Super P-47. Your modeling skills are superb. Nice nose art.

Sweet!
Matt, that’s great. I love following the story of the Wasp Major. I’d say she had major cooling versus airspeed issues. The model is great, where’d the figgies come from and esp. the doggie?
Great to see something that incites a bit of research.
You know, the Wyvern, which had a 3,600 hp turboprop, tended to whip over upside down to the right, even though it had a contra-rotater too. Officers on the bridge of Illustrious might be spotting whales intently over to starboard during takeoff operations!
Soundwise:

Go to “Super Corsair Startup”
Although I would like the 8 bar/ 12 bar blues!
Daywalker, next is another somewhat esoteric conversion of a largely (that is literal) popular kit but I shall not give away the subject just yet. I have two very large boxes and several accessory and conversion packages sitting here right now to look over [:-^]
Bondoman, many different places. The doggie is from an ICM British airfield set, the figures are from Monogram and Prieser. The fuel cart is Verlinden I think. The backdrop is from Sierra Scale.
She’s a beauty Matt. Excellent work [tup].

Finished the last studio shoot today. Just have the ‘on location’ pieces to do now. After looking at the first serious day of editing it became clear there was no way to fit everything on two disc so we made the decision to expand the set to THREE DVDs which will unfortunately influence the price a little. Once we started to get into pilot and ground crew interviews things really started to get carried away.
Beautifull work Matt. That Contra’d P47 is something else. Is it a What if? Or did it see some action.
Great news on the DVD. Should be ready in time for my Birhtday. LOL.

Thanks, The aircraft is modeled from the prototype but the markings are ‘what if’
Very nice Matt! The contra-rotating prop looks really cool. Excellent work on the conversion!
Is that conversion available anymore?
The conversion is readily availible from Great Models or direct from Bill Koster. I spoke to Bill just yesterday and he was restocking the resin sets.
Fantastic Matt! Seriously, save a copy for me! I have your first 2 videos and they are excellent, I definantly want the third.
And why did we not see this work of art at your own forum???[#dots]
It’s there Moon Puppy, General modeling section [:-^]
