Super Bowl of Armor

If you haven’t already seen the scheduling, the Military Channel is going to air a show Monday at 9:00pm eastern/8:00pm central on the battle of Kursk. Always nice to see some new programming and I can only hope they will have some new footage as well. The promotion is billing it as a study in tactics between the commanders as well as German technology against Russian defensive tactics, essentially tanks vs. shovels.
I can only imagine the build ideas that will flow from it. Will there be a surge in armor building? Or perhaps, Eastern front dioramas?
I think I will go to the store and get some popcorn.

I’ve seen 1 program from this series: Battle for Singapore. It was a pretty good show. I’d like to see this Kursk one very much.

Always a fascinating subject- I also would love to see some newly found/rediscovered footage instad of the few stock clips that seem to be shown again and again. Or the so so computer animation.

I watched a few shows on the Military Channel over the past couple days and it reminded me as to why I watch less and less there. It is just not as good and accurate as it could be- historical inaccuracies, questionable conclusions, stock footage repeated, perhaps badly colorized, and way too many commercials.

Well, so much for the hopes of learning something new. Shoot, they didn’t even rise to the level of so-so with the animation and how right on you were regarding commercials. All in all, a shining example of bad programming. My heartfelt condolences to anyone who wasted that particular hour of their lives. I’m just glad the Military Channel is part of my basic package and not an extra cost upgrade.

Next Monday night will be about the Battle of the Bulge and then tomorrow night is the first installment of the new Tank Overhaul. [:D]

Thanks for the programming note Panther F. Even though the Kursk show was a disappointment to me, I’ll be back for the Battle of the Bulge show simply because WWII has a real hook into me. Fingers crossed that next Monday will be better.

I haven’t watched it yet, so it was a real stinker, huh? Too bad. I did see the El Alemane (sp) episode and I kinda yawned through it.

We don’t get the military channel on our cable in my neck of the woods.

It is not offered as it would not fit in with contemporary or higher thinking of the locals (IMHO).

This is why I am switching to dish, they have it there.

I could go on but I don’t want to start a political debate that will get the topic locked.

It’s just frustrating that the book stores, librarys, and cable all seem to be very limited on topics that are not PC such as warfare.

Feels like censership.

[soapbox]

Whatever happened to their “Dogfight” series? Now those were good…

probably peculiar to your local demographics… out my way we have both, the cable channel and good selection at the book stores…
